Tragic loss. Thoughts with the Arens family.

1570 must have pulled the tweet down. I learned of it Saturday and waited until I saw a reported tweet. So if anyone thinks I should delete this thread, please let me know.

Devastating. Praying for the Arens. They’re good people.

Damn. The more I think about this, the more angry I get. This just isn't fair. Great human being. Young mother, prime of her life.
Damn.

As brutal and devastating a loss as can be, if we're being honest. All sudden deaths are unfathomable but this one seems particularly so. The family is an incredible one and will pull together but it will also need Crofton and Vermillion and the reach of both those communities to bring its support in a time of really, truly unfathomable grief and loss.

And I know that when I lost somebody very close to me, suddenly and without any warning, remembrances from people online brought me great comfort.
So I would just like to post that Bridget Arens was someone I didn't know, but I watched intently as she brought a level of intensity and toughness to a basketball court that was in and of itself extraordinary. Her grit, determination and strength on the court was always admirable ... but she also had an obvious leadership style based in selflessness and love that you could see bring her teammates in and lift the collective. That's one in a thousand type stuff.
I know she was truly loved by her teammates. I can only imagine how much she was loved by her family. She will obviously leave a massive void, which all great humans do.
I hope her family and friends can find some solace in the upcoming days, months and years as they navigate that loss.

Here's a Zach Borg piece on Bridget and Allison from 2017...

Thanks for this. Just a great expression of what many people are feeling and trying to communicate.
