Friday game, 5PM - Mountain West Network
I'm pretty sure this is a free stream. Just load up the MTN app.
Interesting the game is 5PM Central, since that's 4PM for them?
Air Force picked 8th of 11 in the Mountain West
Massey predicts a 67-65 Yote win

Definitely winnable. Like Wyoming last season, this one is at elevation, 6,000 feet or so, so try to get over that extra dry mouth early and find that second wind. Unlike Wyoming, this team has no size so that's a bonus. Air Force has a South Dakota kid in Rapid City Stevens grad Jayda McNabb starting. She grabbed 11 boards in the AF opener.

Coach Eighmey said this opponent will be small, but good. 5'-7" Junior Guard, Milahnie Perry (#2) is a MTW preseason all-conference pick. -She led the Falcons in scoring (16.7ppg), assists (2.6), FG Attempts, 3PT made, etc. last year

OK, here's some advanced stats on shooters for both teams. I'm looking at " True Shooting Percentage" or TS%. This is basically a measure of how efficiently a player scores at all levels, a combination of FG%, 3PT% and FT% weighted. The basic formula is: TS% = points/ 2x (FGA + (0.44 x FTA)) The 3-pointers are valued at 1.5 times more than a 2-pointer, because total points are included in the equation. Anyway, here is the total 2024 season data from all the returning players on both teams who had at least 100 field goal attempts:player | TS % | | G Larkins | 58.9 | Excellent | O Kieffer | 55.7 | Very Good | C Duffney | 54.8 | Very Good | K O'Hollaren | 52.7 | Very Good | M Smith | 50.1 | | M Perry | 48.4 | | J McNabb | 46.9 | | A Hempe | 46.6 | | J DeVaughn | 46.2 | | A Cortez | 44.1 | very poor |
For Women's BB based on last year's team data.... Elite/best= >60% Excellent = >56.% Great === >52.% Very Poor =<46% Terrible == <42% Worst === <38% Keep in mind that True Shooting % is mostly used for NBA players, and anything under .500 for them is considered very bad. 60% used to be the elite line for them, but now it is higher. Thank the "splash brothers" LOL. I looked at the average for all NCAA WBB teams for 2024, and the average team was shooting 49% with a certain distribution of scores. So I came up with a different scale to evaluate College WBB. I Will say that they have a lot of returning players, so that continuity should count for something. But overall the shooting for USAF is ... average. If Klosterbuer plays a lot this year, I'll guess she scores pretty efficiently. Not a lot of data to crunch on her yet though.

Also, Air Force is good at getting steals.

Carson out with an injury (looked like an ankle the other night), did not make the trip.
Klosterbuer to start.

Good shooting first half but 11 TO keeping AF in the game

Hot start. Pretty shaky in the second. Feels like they should be up at least 20 … the zone doesn’t seem to be taking much away but AF isn’t making anything so it’s working.

Really surprised at Liv’s turnovers. She had a good A/TO last year

It definitely seems like if they can just not give the ball away they can get whatever they want offensively. AF is a little challenged defensively.

At this point if you have an offensive possession where Duffney doesn’t get a crack at a drive, it’s a failed trip.

McNabb is just devastating this zone. Without shooting.
