Is the U providing a bus or car pools for ISU or UND? How far is it to ISU? We were well represented in Wisconsin.
I complained before about the student section. I hope they remember how it felt when they rocked the Dome last week. That is what college football is all about. I hope we can get a large group of the Coyote Crazies away as well as home. They are the energy the Yotes need every week.

Unfortunately I don't think they will remember, it was D-Days.

This one makes me nervous. Solid, but not dominant MVFC squad, on the road, sandwiched in between two big conference home games. Come in unfocused this week and we won't win this game.

It is also ISU homecoming. Stay focused, Yotes.

This will most definately be a tough test. The Coyotes will not be able to have one bit of a slip in their play to pull this one out. The difference between the Big Sky/Great West and the MVFC seems to be the physical style of play is at a higher level. One thing I noticed about the Yotes compared with the Big Sky opponents is that the Yotes dominated when it came to delivering punishing hits and tackles. That is not likely to happen in the MVFC.
The thing that worries me the most about this game is what USD is going to do if they are not able to run the ball from power formations. I thought I read that ISU-Red is very stingy against the run. If that is the case USD is going to need to run more three plus receiver sets to spread out the Redbird defense. The Coyotes have talent and speed on offense they just haven't either by choice or necessity used it very effectively. It seems to me that the itermediate passing game is nearly non existant. I really believe USD misseds Tommy Flanagan. They don't seem to have that safety valve receiver on offense.
What worked against the smallish defenses will not necessarily work against ISU. For the Coyotes to win this game it will come down to being creative with their play calling. I would actually like to see more passes on first down. I would have never thought I would say this but I am more comfortable with the defense being able to hold their own than the offense being able to find the right mix of things they are willing to do to put up a nice total on the scoreboard.
Whatever the formula the Yotes are going to have to bring their game to the road which is something that would be a little more the exception than the rule as far as victories are concerned.

Ill. St. has some talented transfers from FBS as their coach has a lot of Big Ten ties, but this is definitely a winnable game for your team. SDSU fumbled the ball on the 5 yd line (result of the play was a first down) with 2 min? left in the game. A touchdown would have tied the game. It was also Austin Sumner's first game as a starter and he was absolutely terrible in the first half and came out the second half and played much better. If he had played anything like the past couple of weeks SDSU easily wins the game. I wouldn't be surprised if USD won this game, but because of homecoming and obviously an away game it will be a tough game. (wait, away games don't count right? I kid...I kid... ) No MVFC game is easy. Good luck this weekend.

According to Mick Garry starting TE Michael Neilson is out for the season with a knee injury. He was a pretty versatile player during his time with USD. He transferred in as a TE but ended up playing DE during the second half of the season. I think he hurt his knee on his touchdown against SUU. I think Burns, Dejong and Wilhelm are next in line.
Good luck Michael in the future. Go Yotes.

If USD gets the offense going early I think they roll up on Illinois State and this one is never in doubt.
If they come out sluggish and take a while to get going, the train may never leave the station for them.
With that said, the Coyote defense keeps getting better and better. I know Starr is the hot commodity right now, but Broders, Williams, Potter and Thompson have all been difference makers this season too. If everybody does their job, USD will be the better team on Saturday and 4-2 coming in to this game is right where we hoped we would be. Let's own the Redbirds and crack the top 10 next week.
