My anecdotal evidence says definitely up. The high will always be the Dakota Days game as we generally reach capacity on that day regardless of whether we were D1 or D2. There were some real dog games early in the transition but I would say that things have evened out and attendance is pretty consistent in the 8,000 plus range game after game with two definite sellouts per year, D-Days, and the alternating SDSU & NDSU games.

The floor looks good. I like the lighter colored wood for the lane. Maybe a bit too red in the arena for me:o) I was trying to see the 3 point line for the women. Is there 2 lines and I cannot see it well on pictures?

Anyone know if game attendance has gone up, gone down, or stayed the same since our transition to D1 FCS? Digging through the archives of the internet here is what I found: 1998 4792 1999 2951 2000 4275 2001 4410 2002 3944 2003 4341 2004 6382 2005 7597 2006 8054 2007 8321 2008 7645 2009 8117 2010 8352 2011 8071 2012 8868 2013 8095 2014 8409 2015 9028 Here is a graph illustrating the rise over the years (click it if you want to enlarge it): Of course some years had bigger outliers than others (a sellout D Days crowd in 1999 would skew that year's number far more than in the recent years) but there is a clear trend upwards. I believe that if we can field a successful team in the MVFC that demand will increase enough to necessitate the added capacity that is going to come with our renovations.

Thanks for doing the research and putting the info together. You posed the question and I really wanted to know the answer myself as I never actually attended a USD event at the D2 level (first game I saw was the 08 football opener, the first game as a transitional D1 member). Looking into the past and seeing those incredibly low figures from the early 2000s was quite surprising. Can't even fathom attending a season's worth of games in the dome where the average attendance was 2951. Glad we are trending upwards. Good potential for growth considering our attendance has continuously risen despite not having a winning season since the Great West days.

That is the reason for the extra line at Frost as there are quite a few high school games. The college women also had the one foot shorter shot until 2011 after I looked it up.

I'm glad you stated that it actually was until 2011 so that I don't feel totally crazy.

I just looked through some highlights and the line is gone from Frost. The only courts with the shorter line are NDSU and Denver.

Do they play the high school championship games on that court? A couple of years ago the AA girls were there. Also, there had been some regional games for boys and girls a couple or more years ago. The Swiftel has taken some of those games recently.

So we averaged over 9,000 for football last year. Looks like more proof for my winning side of an argument I was having over the weekend.
