Takeaway #1 - Get your season tickets if you want to get in the Dome. For all of us season ticket holders that have been buying for years this is where it pays off.
Takeaway #2 - There will only be 200 tickets for SDSU fans next year, the minimum league requirement.

I'd say we can subtract gameday ticket sellers from the 2019 budget.
I hope that cutting the student section in half makes for one dedicated section. Maybe it will be contagious and spread to the neighboring section.

I guess I don’t get it. So there are what, 4 or 5 home games? So they can set up temporary bleachers for the band on the west side, but not for fans? We’re South Dakotans. Nobody is going to b$tch about having to sit in bleachers, or even folding chairs. Figure it out. Be resourceful. Football attendance is the keystone of a healthy athletic department. This could harm the progress we have made. And get off my lawn!

Also, in what world does 10k minus 2k = 5-to-6k? So Coyote Fan was right all along? My head hurts.

It's a twelve game season next year and there will be six home games. Bad year to miss out on the extra revenue but maybe one step back and two steps forward.

This could harm the progress we have made. And get off my lawn! It says in the article that USD would have to get permission from the contractors to put the band on the west side. My guess is that they don't want fans on the other side as they would have to walk along the back of the end zones to get over there any they don't want fans going back and forth during the game. If is just the band over there then the bad just stays on the other side. I may be wrong but I think they want to keep as many people away from the construction as possible for liability reasons. All it takes is one moron to walk past a "Do Not Enter" sign and get hurt and then the sue the university. Seems that when people are stupid they can still somehow mange to turn it into a payday.

The math on seating makes my head hurt. So from the articles I gather their are 5,278 seats in the grandstand. The renovation on the other side will add 4,300 seats. So we're at 9,578 in seating capacity (but the Dome holds 10,000 now?). You have to also add in what Coyote Landing holds in capacity and what the club seating in the south end zone holds. I can also tell you that there will be some expansion and structure made to the north end zone as there has to be a way to allow traffic to flow from one side of the stadium to the other without going down to field level and walking through the end zone. I would expect when that structure is done there will be seating capacity added there as well.
In the end, I don't think we'll ever figure out how much the Dome can hold. They'll just keep stuffing people into every nook and cranny of that joint.

One way to help address the problem of limited seating next year is to sell split season tickets, at least for some seats. Instead of selling tickets for all 6 home games, just sell tickets for 3 home games to one set of ticket holders and 3 for another set. The issue might be which games go with each set, but it could be settled on a limited basis.
Living over 470 miles from Vermillion I'm only able to see about two home games, but I'd buy season tickets under that arrangement; probably to the first 3 homes games. What do others think?

That's a good idea. Lots of pro teams sell packages.

Great video posted above by gasser86 on the history of the DakotaDome!! When I was a freshman in 1967 we had Inman Field (from the student union over to the new armory). Times have definitely changed for the better!!

It's important to note that the Dakota Dome was the reason why the South Dakota High School Football Championships started; 1981 was the inaugural year.
1981 11-AA SF O'Gorman - 12 Yankton - 3 11-A Winner - 31 Vermillion - 21 11-B DeSmet - 8 Gregory - 6 9-A Freeman - 19 Faulkton - 14 9-B Bridgewater - 6 Colome - 0
