I'm not sure what more detail everyone wants right now since ground breaking won't even take place till May. I think the drawings provided look great and give a good idea of what the complex will look like! Where are the drawings? I only ever saw like two pictures. Detailed pictures of everything planned would be more than enough for me, I don't need daily updates during construction about how much dirt was pulled out of the ground.

I believe the drawings, referenced by sdyotefan, were the ones in the hospitality room during the tournament. It's my hope that these renderings are put on the athletic website for those that weren't able to make it to the tournament.

It is my understanding that the "old" pictures are still fairly similar to what you will see with the "new" building. They just raised everything up. Why waste money on very expensive renderings that effectively show the same thing?
There are updated blueprints available on this board along with the renderings of the modified exterior. Use the search function on this board and find them.
If you wanted to see a lot of the pictures, you should, you know, come to the Summit Tournament and come by the USD hospitality area where the announcement was made. It was open all throughout the tourney for USD fans to come a mingle - it was full of people each day that I was there. Free food as well. I realize the AD needs to do some hand holding occasionally, but once in a while fans need to step up.
The SDSU AD isn't doing a press release every time something comes out. They are very fortunate to have a guy in TV that has nothing better to do than promote SDSU through the Argus. Beyond that, their fan base just gets behind everything and takes a little responsibility.
It is time for USD fans to do the same. It is the same couple guys on here that complain about everything, but then when people call them out about not attending anything the excuses come flying. In life you need to pay to play once in a while. Make an effort.

In life you need to pay to play once in a while. Make an effort. I agree with Cousin Eddie here. The information is out there and has been put out there time and again. Of course it is easier for SDSU fans to get info as they have the State's newspaper as their #1 cheerleader. One point Cousin Eddie, it's not that TV has nothing better to do, he is getting paid to do what he is doing. It is his job to provide that in-depth coverage and the Argus is paying him to do it. You sometimes hear in politics that one side has trouble getting their message out, or that their message is being skewed. While the other side has the "mainstream media" pushing everything in their agenda and providing cover. I don't want to get into politics, whether that statement is true or not, the perception is there in some people's minds. I kind of feel that way about the Argus. They sound the trumpet for anything SDSU. Even when USD bests SDSU there is still a specter of SDSU superiority written into the article. I would suggest the University mount a couple of cameras around the construction site. They could provide a 24 hour live feed on GoYotes.com for anyone who wants to look in on the construction progress. Or provide a time lapse view of the construction site. I've watched multiple projects that way on the web, the last one being the construction of the second ice arena in Mitchell. If the Mitchell Marlins Hockey Association can pull that off, surely the Univesity of South Dakota can as well.

I haven't been able to see a BBall game in the dome for over 10 years, and odds are, I will never see one in the new arena - and I am fine with that, I just want to see and hear more about USD and the Yotes. So, no more bitching and complaining from me.

It is the same couple guys on here that complain about everything, but then when people call them out about not attending anything the excuses come flying. In life you need to pay to play once in a while. Make an effort. Cousin Eddie, In defense of Azsod73, and I've said this before, there are people that have given to this project that are retired, and don't live here in the winter. And when they make a significant contribution, they are entitled to be kept informed as to what's going on. Let me make a case in point. Let's say someone gave under the pretense that the original drawings, plans, etc were the ones they liked. Now, I guess we had to change some things because oft he water table, these people have a right to know. They are making a significant gift. And if during your pledge process you ask to be kept informed, and you aren't, would that set well with you? To be honest, it makes you look unappreciated. I understand his complaint. He doesn't live here anymore, but loves USD. I'll make another point. There are those that were called on earlier in the process that made pledges and part of the plan the was to renovate the Dome as part of the project. I know of two cases where MAJOR gifts were made with this understanding, and now it's changed. The Dome comes later. Well, now in all fairness, the two pledges came from former football players whose main interest lies in football, but did make a pledge towards the whole project with the idea at least some of my money will go towards the Dome, and improvements there. Are these people entitled to know what's going on? Are changes in plans discussed with them? Don't assume they will honor their pledge if they don't feel like they have been kept in the loop. Both of these pledges have come from 2 former players living over 1000 miles away. If the Dome is no longer part of the project, then I think they are entitled to know that. There have been changes that may affect someone's attitude in giving. Quite frankly you have to be concerned with what they think. And to call them out and say get to Sioux Falls to see it is wrong. If you think "hand holding" as you put it isn't part of the deal on projects like this at schools across the country, then you're seriously mistaken. I've said this before, how damned difficult is it to have a "master list" of so e of these people, and have a periodic update that goes to all? That's really simple to do. So frickin do it. I don't know anyone's age on here unless it's on your profile, but Azsod73 deserves some respect, and has earned it for what he has do e over the years for USD. And I guaranty you he was present at more games in his day than you'll ever think about going to. The word is respect. Respect those that have done good deeds for USD, whether it's financial, or through time. But damnit, respect these people.

It looks like UNO has a pretty good start on their new 90 million arena. I thought they were years away from breaking ground but they have the steel in the ground las og last week.
