aggiefin. - cinemalover just joined this board & based on his 2 posts he appears to be a disgruntled Aggie Movielover strikes again! This guy is good, Finn.

I have a feeling the Ags are going to come out hard and turn some heads right off the bat.
Hope I'm right! But you just never know how a team will react with a new coach in game 1. All signs are good up to this point. The UC Davis football program is on fire right now.

Mr. Finn, I reside in neither town. I'm merely a football fan with a few friends in the coaching ranks. And I've been known to take a friendly wager every so often, be it greenbacks or a tri tip dinner paired with a fine Napa Cab. But I can't obfuscate, I have to deal with cold hard facts.
The coaches are Belotti and Hawkins, trying to land them cost their program months. Randy Wright had his best year as a Freshman, and is turnover prone. SDU isn't Sacramento, and Colton Schmidt's massive leg helped secure that game from the jaws of defeat. (Yote fans, Schmidt had a tryout with the SF 49ers, and often punted the ball 70 yards in the air. He will be an NFL punter, and he won at least 2 games for them last year.) And yes, QB London Lacy is recovering from an injury, and some wanted him to start last year. The new recruits are nice, but this is clearly a rebuilding year for the visiting team.
The rookie gunslinger who may start could be Sheppard (6'2"), Ben Scott or Garrett Bogart (both 6'3"). Bogart is the physically more mature, a muscular and athletic 215 pounds who can take a hit. Coach Gould was known as a cagey risk taker at Berkeley, often picking rookie RBs over established veterans to great success.
It may be a competitive first half, but Davis is known to "meltdown" come halftime. Last year the Aggies were outscored 117-33 in the second half in 6 of their 7 losses. It is a soft west coact team trying to redefine itself. No Glass at LB, no Schmidt. Great kids, just not the cornfed boys who play in 20 degree weather for fun. This ain't Montana or North Dakota. I say the Yotes eventually outmaneuver their opponents and roll.

Sheppard (6'2"), Ben Scott or Garrett Bogart (both 6'3"). Crazy talk. No way Sheppard or Bogart start- 18 year old kids on campus for 2 months. Its between Wright and Laughrea, Scott as #3. Sheppard and Bogart to RS.

We are dealing with a lot of unknowns. You might be smoking a joint to pick Bogart but who knows, no QB has been named.

Can anyone confirm the kickoff time? The USDCoyotes.com website says it's 2:00 and I've heard some dudes on the radio say it's 1:00. I'm inclined to believe the website but I also don't want to be late!

Simple answer. Get there at 9AM to tailgate with the rest of us. Although I have still missed a few opening kickoffs using that tactic.

Berkeley, where Gould is from, is starting a true Freshman @ QB this weekend.

The Midco show - Coyote Corner was really well done this week IMO. They seem to have made improvements to their production quality and format. Well done!
Kickoff can't get here soon enough.

Berkeley, where Gould is from, is starting a true Freshman @ QB this weekend. We are talking a whole different talent level with that QB, and that's Dykes' dude. Laughrea is Gould's dude, thus we see him and Wright. Not the Froshies.

Love it--enjoyed the enthusiasm for USD, which we all want to be contagious and continue to grow.

Three year starter Randy Wright will start as Aggie QB for the USD game it was announced today. It is great to have fully qualified competitive backups though.
