Ha Ha, Cousin Eddie: To vs. Too; Than vs. Then; They're vs. Their. I'm on board with you but all is forgiven if we just win, right?
Never did like English 101 but it done me some good over the years.

The update on Bouma from the Coyote Report, Glenn said that he's day to day and hopefully playing on Saturday. Said he had a stinger or something in practice, never used the word concussion. How does everyone think the attendance will be this week? The Indiana State game was about the smallest crowd I'd ever seen in the Dome, but it probably had to do with the DDays hangover and 3 day weekend. We've won a few, including all 3 home games, think we can get over 8k? Come on, we aren't SDSU journalism grads, right? My sister is. She's an editor on the school paper. They spelled Brookings wrong in one of the headlines last year. Fine program.

I sure hope there are butts in the seats. This is an improving, dangerous and entertaining team. And, as regularly noted, no visiting team is unbeatable inside the DakotaDome, where we play our next three games! While the odds are long, our playoff hopes are not dead. Of course, that would require winning out against four top-20 teams, including a season finale @ NDSU. Playoffs aside, many people, including myself, figured four or five wins to be a successful season. We still may end at that mark, but I think we're capable of notching a couple of more wins, which says a lot. We need to go 1-0 this week. Go Yotes!

We already matched any reasonable expectations heading into the season by achieving our 4th win, 3 conference wins, and a win in the UNIDome against a dangerous UNI team, and there are still 4 games left! We are on the cusp of guaranteeing a .500 conference record, and a winning record and SD supremacy is in sight with two more Valley wins. We might go 0-3 in this homestand, we might go 3-0, too early to tell, but we have a chance to crush the preseason expectations. With 4 games left we still control our playoff destiny, and that's something I never would have believed if you would have told me before the season. First step, beat those Penguins! I'll be there doing my best to blow the roof off, and I'll be dragging as many people as I can with me to do the same. Go Yotes!

I know of a half dozen folks making the trip from the central and western part of SD for this game. These are fans who haven't been to a USD game in sometime, but have recently been drawn back in to the fold with this year's success of the Coyote football team. I am hearing there will be quite a few people around for this one, as there should be. Bring a few more friends this weekend and let's pack the Dome. I plan on losing my voice all over again to help keep the Dome rocking on Saturday. Let's get another W Yotes!

Weather forecast for Saturday is sunny and 54 degrees with a little 10 mph wind out of the west. Should be a beautiful day for tailgating and, of course, perfect conditions inside the Dome.

Vegas odds had us as 10 point underdogs when they opened, but now we sit at 7.5 point underdogs. This is a winnable one, and I just have a great feeling about it. I predict the offense has a field day in the Dome, nearly 500 yards and 28+ points.

That being said, can you give me a few reasons this game will be any different ( points and yardage wise) than any other? you see 500 yds of offense, and at least 28 pts. you average 328 yds. and 17 or 18 pts. YSU has scored in excess of 28 in all but two contests. We have given up more than 28 in only one, and that was at Michigan State. No smack intended, Just want your thoughts......

Hard to know what will happen Saturday. This match-up was close last year and both teams look improved. USD can be very tough at home - especially for teams that have never been in the DakotaDome before. The lighting is strange and the walls and bleachers are scary close to the playing field. While we don't usually get a large crowd the Dome holds the noise and it can be disruptive at times.
YSU is a good team and I think USD will have to play a near flawless game to win. USD needs to protect the QB better than last week in order to win. Also think the USD defense needs to hold them under 30 to have a realistic chance.
Should be a great game - cant wait.

I can't speak for him but what I'm certain he's thinking is that our team really is better than the record shows. The one thing we continuously do over and over and over is make the damnest dumb mistakes at precisely the wrong time. Logic says there is going to be a game where we just come out and play and execute and lay it all out, and Saturday sorta has that feel to it. Trust me, there is no lack of respect for Youngstown State. It's just we know that many a ranked team has come to the DakotaDome and walked out with a L. Our offense is beginning to find itself, our defense is pretty salty, but our special teams suck wind. If we eliminate the mistakes, or at least the vast majority of them, I also believe we are going to win this game. I expect our kids to be lit up and on fire. I also have this feeling the crowd will be large, as this team is demonstrating that it is good enough to warrant respect, and they want to prove it. I'm not convinced we are a playoff team yet, but we are capable of beating playoff bound teams. I look for this to be a head knocker.

As I have all season, I'm concerned with ysu's pass defense. It's no secret the weaknesses there. and teams try to exploit them every game. Hope their bend but not break defense holds up for another game. Also hope they don't take SDU lightly. There has been the tendency for some on the team too look ahead ( to UNI ) . anyway should be a good game.

If you're looking for tangibles supporting my high offense day, you guys have a poor defense and we have an improving offense. Under the new offense we implemented we are averaging 383 yards per game, and it seems improves with each game. Last week and against InSU the offense failed to execute deep in the opponent's territory, but if we do execute in those situations this week you will see us put up 21 points easily with room to go higher. Much of my reason for believing we'll put up some points this week is the intangible believing in your improving team, and great home field advantage. This isn't the same team as last year, or even the first 4 games of this year. Completely different look and feel about them, and since they've only got 4 games with the new feel there isn't much to go off of other than a 3-1 record and an offense that seems to be making strides, even if the scoreboard isn't cooperating every game. Only having 8 losses in the Dome in the last decade will also make you feel pretty good against about anyone at home.

Looks like 700 student tickets were claimed for the game. I don't know how many of those claimed will show up, or what the usual amount that attend is, but I thought I'd share that. Despite the new success for the team, I don't see it raising student interest much at all. They'll all pretend to be fans once another Dakota team comes to town though. Hope my fellow student body proves me wrong.
