Been reading through the posts the last couple of days...I have to admit I know nothing about Sac St. or their abilities. i have confidence in the Coyotes though for a couple of reasons.
1. We've played well the toughest conference in the country. 2. We have quality depth for the 1st time I can remember in the D1 era. 3. This team just finds ways to win games. We've won some close ones, we've won a shootout, we've had blowouts and hung on for dear life. Anyway situation you can face, this team has confronted and found a way so far this year. Being battle tested matters at this time of year.
I think the Yotes control this one all the way and win convincingly.
35-17 good guys
Cheers to December football in the Dome
Go Yotes

Offense hasn't played great for 4 weeks now, dating back to the ISUb game. Time to get back on track against the worst defense in the MVFC. Win this one in dominating fashion and get ready to host a playoff game, hopefully as a top 4 seed. To be fair, the team has had a 3 game stretch of playing Top 10 teams. It's not supposed to be easy sledding against Top 10 teams. Also, ISUb has been resurgent. They are a lot better team the second half of the season than in the first. I think they had several key injuries at the start of the season. Not expecting total domination against good teams. By saying "hasn't played great" I guess I mean making silly mistakes and shooting ourselves in the foot. I feel like during that stretch, barring the sdsu game, we were clearly the better team each time. Without turnovers and bad penalties by the offense over the course of that stretch, those close wins would've been no doubters. Clean that up and I like our chances against anybody in the FCS.

I don't think I've ever paid any attention to the sound system, either as a player, coach, or fan. It's a non-issue for me.

High School State championships might help bring in some casual fans.

We are very good, the bunnies are a great team. To beat that team we'd need a near perfect game and for them to stub their toe a couple times. Still proud of the effort and attitude of the Yotes. never gave in and thats shows the change in our culture from seasons prior. Get them again in the playoffs and anything can happen.
Dust ourselves off and go get a big one on the road next Saturday.

I believe we have not yet trailed in a FCS game this year. Would be nice to keep that trend alive and get off to a hot start against the bunnies.

Battle in the trenches on Saturday. Whichever side can control the LOS will win this game. Both teams have talented skill positions. Both teams have solid, aggressive defenses. Turnovers, penalties, and special teams play will be huge factors. Yotes have played in a hostile environment already in Fargo, can't say that any of the bunnies games until this one have been especially "hostile". Their team has been in plenty of big games though so they won't shrink in the moment.
I predict a fairly low scoring game, with a few big plays that swing the momentum. Establishing the run, winning the turnover battle, and solid special teams for the Yotes put us over the top.
Yotes win 20-14

This seems like the first year ever that I have not heard any complaints about our OL. What changed? I know we have a new coach, can he really be making that much of a difference? The depth chart doesn't seem much different than past years, only 1 senior and 1 junior on the two deep. Scheme, coaching, another year of maturity, all seems to have made a huge difference. When I was at the U we went through 3 OL coaches during my time. IMO, hearing things from a new perspective can really change the mindset of a position group, even if the stuff a new coach is teaching isn't really that different from before. Whatever the reason our OL has gone from a liability to a strength in a short 6 months.

I know winning always helps attendance, but like others have said, there is more to it. I am not sure if it is culture or what, but something is missing. Somehow SDSU has turned football games into events where 18,000+ show up for virtually every game. I have been to a couple of USD games at SDSU and the overall experience (parking, concessions, harsh weather later in the year, game production, etc) is at best equal to that at USD and is some instances substandard to that at USD, but yet they pack them in and we don't I know the purpose of institutional advertising isn't to put butts in the seats at athletic events, but I don think our lack of institutional advertising plays a part in our attendance woes. You watch any state sponsored high school championship on TV, you always see multiple SDSU ads and zero USD ads. If you use the SD Scores ap to follow SD high school FB, VB & BB, SDSU ads always pop up and zero USD ads. I'm tired of making excuses for poor attendance, too, but it does take consistency. Remember back 4-5 years ago as sdsu was finally getting over the hump? they earned their first playoff seed and had around 4500 in attendance for that game. It was like that for 2-3 years until around 2020 when they became serious national title contenders. From that point on they've had something special, close to selling out every home game. That consistency matters. I don't care what sport it is, people want consistency. They want a product they can count on. If i'm going to shell out a $1,000 for season tickets, spend fall saturdays going to and from vermillion with a young family, invite friends and family to come with and tailgate, I want to see a good product. Our program's inconsistency hasn't stopped me from doing those things but I admit before we renewed this season my wife and I have questioned "is this worth it?". This year has been refreshing and is bringing back my hopes. I believe we have a chance at getting over the hump but we need a consistent product. Multiple years of good, consistent, fun, winning football. It's an easy answer to say it takes time and consistency, but it's true.

100% the right decision on the punt at the end of the game. There was absolutely no other choice and would have been devastating if a different decision was made. It played out exactly as any coach would have hoped and got the W. Coach Davis dialed up some terrific formations and play calls that go unnoticed, but we’re brilliant in thought and design. Impressive! Also, timely defense was critical along with enormous QB pressure. Just enough to get a win. Agree on Coach Davis. He has been a huge addition. Glad we have him on our side. Finally feels like we are "scheming" guys open, using multiple personnel groupings, using motion and formation to our advantage. Haven't felt this good about our OC since Caruso was calling plays.

Gutted out a win when things looked pretty bleak in the 4th quarter. In past years we would have folded like a cheap tent. Not this season. Found a way in the end and that shows grit and toughness. The culture has done a complete 180 this year. Hats off to the staff and players for making this team fun to watch again. We're playing complimentary football in Vermillion and its fun to be a part of.
As others have said, crowd was small, but I thought the atmosphere was pretty good. Place was rocking when we were on D. Just wait until its full on 10/28 and hopefully 11/11.
Possible trap game next week at ISUb but I think this team is built different and will take care of business to set up an epic showdown in the Dome in 2 weeks!
Go Yotes!

As long as we don't turn the ball over and have multiple 3 & outs on offense, I believe we can beat anyone in the country. We finally have the ability to control the LOS on both side of the ball.

Should we have a traveling trophy for the USD/sdsu rivalry? (poll per request of sdyotefan in "SD State on 10/28" thread)

I say again the best choice is a Mt Rushmore trophy with the faces carved in a chunk of MR granite!! Beats the heck out of some dumb marker. I think we need a poll which is beyond my capabilities. I can set that up!
