So...we should have just joined the Big Sky Conference way back in the day. Seems like the Summit is headed west anyways. So much for that travel costs argument.

Midco drops Bally Sports North right in the middle of Twins baseball season. I was a longtime Midco loyalist but man they are really starting to suck. I look at my cable/internet bill and it is ridiculous and now they pull this? Bluepeak and streaming are looking better every day.

I believe Minnesota State is in play. Augie, no. None of the Dakota schools want anything to do with Augustana. I don't think any of the other conference members are too keen on adding yet another Dakota school. North Dakota and Denver run the NCHC and will be a strong voice in Summit Hockey. They won't accept Augustana. They would accept Minnesota State while simultaneously kicking out St. Cloud. I don't know why they wouldn't admit Augie for just hockey. It's not like schools such as USD are going to add the sport with our strict adherence to Title IX. It would be it's own separate conference like what has been formed for wrestling with SDSU. Because UND and Denver are two of the most historic hockey programs in college hockey. They are going to want to play in the best college hockey conference in the country. Augustana is a start-up program and is not at that level yet. Heck, we might be stretching on Mankato because they have applied for and been rejected by the NCHC recently. Now that Hastings has moved on to Wisconsin leaving the Mavericks gutted and in rebuild mode with Strand to clean up the mess they might not even be an option for Summit Hockey. The CCHA is good home for Augustana.

I don’t really see how adding hockey benefits the summit league. Maybe I’m looking at it wrong but wouldn’t it make more sense to add football and try to peel away some of the valley and big sky schools? The Summit has had issues with offering the minimum number of men's sports that a conference needs to sponsor for years. Sponsoring hockey solves that issue along with locking in Denver, UNO, and St. Thomas from leaving for another conference. The hockey programs at those schools are their marquee programs and Summit Hockey would be one of the top conferences in college hockey (basically it would be what the NCHC Is now). Those schools would have no other options for their hockey programs and would be locked into the Summit for all sports. Would not shock me if someday the Summit sponsored football too. The Summit schools have taken over the top half of the MVFC. We could spin off and add a few football affiliates and be just fine. It's the Valley football programs that would be hurt by that move.

I think it pretty much ensures a MVFC v Big Sky party in the semifinals most years.

I don't know if the game has changed, if FCS football has gotten better, or if we are just getting bigger and better athletes now. I'm thinking a combination of all of them. But these Yotes look significantly bigger, stronger, and more athletic than the guys I played with in the early 2010s. Or maybe I'm just getting old. Either way, fun to see. 2010s? LOL, you're not old. Add another 20 years to that and you'll start feeling old. You're young kid, enjoy it.

It's shortsighted. Literally the only thing keeping me subscribed to Midco cable is MidcoSN. Easy access to USD games and shows like Midco Sports Magazine and especially the Friday Night HS Football show. If the quality slips too much it will be time to get a cheaper streaming service like YouTube TV or the DirectTv app. Those apps are actually portable and can be used on my phone when travelling, something I can't do with Midco.

We're still not ready to play with the big boys of the FCS on a week in week out basis. That was obvious the way NDSU pounded us into the ground in the playoffs. You could chalk that up as the outlier but I think the game early in the season was more likely the outlier. I think either Montana school would probably have whooped us pretty good too. That will be my belief until we prove otherwise. I will be generally skeptical until we can put together multiple seasons in a row where we are relevant. We've never done it before. The way I look at it, you have 2 built in losses every year in the league. After that you have to beat the teams you should beat and play your best against the toss ups. Don't get me wrong. We were good last year and trending in the right direction but we're second tier at best right now. I couldn’t disagree with you anymore. Part of building a winning culture is thinking like a winner. Knowing you’re going to be in every game. I’m telling you and every other skeptic that the culture in the locker room has changed. The recruiting has stepped up. The quality of players is significantly better. The coaching staff is unified. The playoff game against NDSU was not good. No one ever said it was. But that’s not going to be the norm into the future. The only thing that could potentially derail continued success is NIL. NDSU and SDSU has money. We don’t. That being said new AD Schemmel is addressing this now. It’s one of many issues he’s got to deal with and get fixed. If you look at when SDSU started their overall success in their athletic department it was roughly 15 years ago. They hired Justin Sell from UNI and he has done a fantastic job. He’s one great AD for our level. Mark down January 1st of this year for future references but I’m betting AD Schemmel is going to be the same. He’s not afraid to address the issues that need to be addressed. He’s already made changes that’s going to accomplish (2) things. First, he’s replacing people that were lazy and didn’t do their jobs. Secondly, he’s put everyone on notice that mediocrity won’t be accepted. That goes for coaches right down to support staff. That’s what winners do. They make tough decisions. Football is going to be a priority and the affects have already been felt. Now he’s got to raise the $$$ to get it done. From season ticket sales to sponsorships to NIL. It won’t happen overnight but it needs to happen. If USD football consistently wins then the other programs win as well. In closing, this team is being built for sustainability. It’s no longer sticking your finger in the dam to try and plug holes. This team will win. In addressing last years team and winning all the so called close games, there’s only (2) that I felt we weren’t in total control. Youngstown State at home and Southern Illinois on the road. We won both, and we were the better team. But especially Southern Illinois could’ve gone either way. It’s no fluke what our record was. We are there. We now have to take that last step and advance further in the playoffs. I know the team believes it, we need to believe it. There’s absolutely no one on our schedule we can’t beat at home or on the road with exception of Wisconsin. That would be a monumental upset. Not so sure about that. Fickell is completely changing the identity of Wisconsin Football and that change is a bumpy road. Would not be shocked if we won that game. Would not be shocked if we got blown out. I would not be shocked about anything I see in college football anymore.

I agree. We won every close game last year. How long can that last? Good teams win close games. Get on for the ride early because we're going to be back and even better next year.

I think we'll take a step back this year mostly due to reverting to the mean. Just about everything went our way last year and we won't be as good defense. I agree. We won every close game last year. How long can that last? Good teams win close games. Get in for the ride early because we're going to be back and even better next year.

Good gawd, quit the whining. Ban me if you want, but good lord let it go. Why would you want B Meyer to leave? It won’t help the yotes win, regardless of what the yote team brings in/back. She’s not going to leave. Wouldn’t you rather they beat the Jacks with the best players. Idiotic mindset to wish for another team to come down a level so your own team is more competitive. Newsflash, the Jacks will be very good for years to come. The chance for the league was this year, down 5 players to injury. 2 invited players to just field a practice team. Regarding AJ, get a grip. Honestly poll any coach in the college game and they’ll be the first to tell you AJ is the consummate professional. Fortunately the yotes have similar in Kairus and Jewett. It’s not like he’s up and down the sideline screaming like Jory Collins. Watch the championship game tomorrow, you’ll see “hissy fits”. Every team gets calls at times, also deal with missed calls. Stop using the refs as an excuse. And I’d say this on a jackrabbit board just the same. Hopefully the Lady Yotes get an invite to a post season tourney and can do some damage. Also, find a way to get fans to the arena if they host. It’s always better when several teams are doing well and fanbases are engaged. This could be arranged.

Others can post if they want to, but my opinion is that the recruit should announce it first. And typically there isn't a long period of time between the coach tweet and the announcement. There's no real reason to put it out there, it will happen soon enough and she won't be on campus for three months. And there will be plenty of time to speculate on her fit and skills at that point. I have no idea how good she will be, but there are reasons to think they may have gotten someone who was undervalued due to injury. I'm adding that last part because Kayla did publicly comment on the injury at the last coaches show. I respect your opinion and you don't have to share anything you don't want to. But isn't that kind of the fun of a fan board - to throw out speculations and discussions about stuff outside of what the press releases say? Ever since Herbster called out the board in his presser after the UNI football game disaster two years ago, everybody walks on eggshells around here. Whatever happened to CoyoteFan? He was always good for some fun conversation at least. Holy cow. How did I miss that? Frankly, anything anybody said after that fiasco was fair criticism. You do all know you can just direct message each other and have a private conversation if you really want to know.

Lamar backed out...again?
In 2010 we played the first game of a home/home series down in Beaumont, TX. The next year they backed out of the return game. Now they back out of another game with us. Never schedule that school again. If they call, hang up the phone.
Northern State on a Thursday sounds horrible. If we have to endure playing an awful opponent like that at least make it on Saturday so we can have some fun. I see a whole lot of $5 flash sale ticket offers for that one. I hope that game is deeply discounted for season ticket holders.
