I haven't thought about this guy in a couple years. Forgot he existed honestly. Watching March Madness and I see his name in the starting lineup for James Madison against Wisconsin. Had to think of where I knew that name from.
No commentary. Just sharing for anyone else in my boat.

Has the WNIT always gone up against March Madness? Friday night home game also seems very unusual. Tough sell to me.

Stanley had his NBA start last night at Boston! Played 34 min, 10 pts, 3-7 fgs, 6 rbs,1 asst, 3-3 fts, 1 to and 3 fouls. A pretty effective night. I hope he keeps progressing. If he keeps putting up solid nights like this, he's going to stay. I hope you are right. You have to remember just how bad the Pistons are though.

The ultimate demise of the SLT in Sioux Falls won't be because of how many USD fans show up or don't show up. It will be because of creating an inflexible situation (location, schedule, sponsorship, and ticket practices). Like anything that isn't allowed to be flexible, it will break. The league gives every school outside of the Dakota schools a reason to look for a different conference. There is no reason not to rotate it ever 3rd or 4th year to a Minneapolis, KC, Omaha, etc. (Thought it would be worse for me personally) For years I've been convinced that no one outside of the Dakotas wants to be in this conference. Everyone is always looking elsewhere. If rotating the conference tournament is what it takes to retain Denver/UMKC/UNO/UST then it should be considered. This league always feels a domino away from collapsing.

Every team outside of South Dakota should be unsatisfied with this arrangement. I'm sure it was a factor in every departure we have seen over the years. Money talks though and there isn't another site that will bring in nearly as much cash.Where does the money go though? If it's kicked back to the schools that's one thing, but if it's used to pad the expense accounts and salaries of Summit officials then screw that. I have no idea. I assume the schools are sharing in the revenue, but surely the league office would too. Maybe it's not as important as I think and it is purely an attendance thing. Sioux Falls remains the only logical location in that scenario too.

Geez - I don't expect a lot of high-fives on here, but the burn-it-all-down attitude here is what we are used to seeing from our less-reasonable friends in blue. I'm sure everyone knows this was really year 1 for Coach Pete. Nearly a full roster turnover and a full culture overhaul - those take some time. (Go back and read the comments from Lee's last year or attitudes of holdover players last year if you need to refresh your memory.) There are certainly weaknesses to be addressed, but the difference between the bottom/middle/top of the conference is razor thin. I didn't think we would beat ORU last night, but if we did, I fully expected to beat SDSU tonight. That is the margin between #1 and #9 this year. We weren't beating state tonight. They are top to bottom better than us. We rarely beat them at home and never beat them in Brookings or at the SLT. I remember beating them once a few years ago at the Pentagon, but other than that I don't remember beating them outside of Vermillion. We beat them in Brookings in 2020-21, same year as that Pentagon game. I think we win the SLT that year if AJ didn't get hurt.

For whatever it is worth, in Craig Smith's second year as head coach at USD, the Yotes conference record was 5-11 and they got bounced 86-70 by IPFW in the 1st round of the SLT. I did notice that when going back through the years. That was the year the Summit had its highest ranking since USD joined too though. We had just graduated Bos and Larson, and decided to tie up 3 scholarships in transfers who couldn't play the whole season, so it was obvious that the year was being sacrificed for the future. Also our final year playing in the Dome which could not have been easy to recruit players to. I remember having little faith in beating IPFW in the SLT because they had some studs. Max Landis and John Konchar was a deadly combo. Not quite the same as the ORU team we just lost to. I'm rambling. At first glance it is interesting to see the same exact conference record as 2015-16. We are in a whole different world now though.

The state of the Summit definitely amplifies this poor season. The composite NET rankings have the Summit as 25th out of 32 conferences. It's not a good conference usually, but this is basically as bad as it has ever been. The initial season of NET rankings back in 2019 also had us 25th, but 1-6 spots higher every year in between. RPI ratings before 2019 usually had the Summit in the teens, even peaking as high as 12th in 2015-16.
This conference appears to be at its lowest and somehow we find ourselves at the bottom of this deepest valley. We should regularly be near the top of a league like this. Our current situation is wildly unacceptable. Just tremendously embarrassing. If we don't see drastic improvements next year we need to be looking elsewhere.

Peterson should get another year. That seat should be boiling though.

Unquestionably the worst Coyote team i have ever seen. I'm just thankful we don't have to get embarrassed by state tomorrow. Instead we get to lose in the very first play-in game. Hooooooray.

The lack of experience this team has in the conference tournament seems like a negative. At least they get an introduction in a less full Denny against ORU instead of being dumped right into the State-U game?

Clinched dead last with this loss. It looks like if Oral Roberts beats UMKC tomorrow we will face Denver in the play-in round. An ORU loss of course means we play ORU.
GATA baby!
