Brian is moving to Indianapolis to work for the Star. I'm sure it's a good opportunity for him.
Incidentally, our new guy used to work for the Indianpolis Star. It seems he was an intern there. A little different role, but a trade nonetheless.

I watch very little but I've always been partial to pulling for the weird schools that are D1 in hockey but nothing else. Like, Bemidji and St Cloud have teams? How is that possible? What the heck is a Ferris State? Who decided there is a Colorado College? That sort of thing. That being said, Augustana will not be winning me over. I could see myself at one of their games rooting for the other guys though because live hockey is so much fun. I definitely understand that sentiment. I was never a part of the old NCC days so the Augie hate doesn't flow through me like it probably should. I guess I've always considered them a little sister school that didn't really deserve my attention lol. I'm in the same boat. Never seen USD play Augustana. Their public campaign for D1 has made me dislike them. Just shut up and do it if you are for real. This has been in the headlines for years now and all we have is that they might be adding hockey and looking at everything else 5 years from now. St Thomas made the move from a lower division in like 5 minutes. I'm still suspicious that Augustana has zero intention of going D1 and just wanted the attention. I am mad at everyone for humoring them.

If Minneapolis has anything it would be news to me. Midco isn't in the cities, so I'm not sure how easy this one is. I understand streaming is a thing but I imagine it is easier to convince a bar to host you when you can tell them "channel 642" or whatever. That or bring 50 people and make them stream it. No idea what the alumni/fan interest around here is. I have seen a place that hosts NDSU parties though.

I'm so excited to finally see a schedule with USD in the Twin Cities on it. I'll see everyone in St Paul on Jan 22 and Feb 17. I have to think St Thomas is going to see a lot of visiting fans from the Dakotas.

Probably a wise choice for Augie. Also, as a hockey fan, I'm looking forward to having a college team to root for without feeling guilty for supporting a common opponent in other sports. More than a few times, I've found myself cheering for the Sioux in hockey. It feels wrong... St Thomas recently waltzed from D3 to D1 in hockey. I'm sure Augustana can get a hockey conference invite if they show an investment. The Augustana-Summit conversation isn't even worth having. They are soooo far away. I found that blog anticipating a Western Illinois exit as a bit odd. WIU is in the Summit until the state shuts it down, which does not seem to be coming in light of the doom from a few years back. If the state can find a way to keep funding Chicago State's athletics then WIU is in the Summit.

Kai Henry is still on the transfer portal. To me that’s very sad. Had he stayed, he plays and graduates. If no one signs him, at any level, he doesn’t play and doesn’t graduate. I wished there was some way that the good Lord could let some of these kids look into a crystal ball into the future so they could assess what a college degree would mean to them. This is one of the huge drawbacks to transfer portal. One of manyI believe I have a cautionary post on here warning of just this thing. How different has the transfer portal made things? Transferring has been a big thing since Russell Wilson went to Wisconsin but it seems like only recently people have been referring to a portal. I can't even tell if the portal is a new (or real) thing. Did Streveler go through a portal? Transferring in your last year of eligibility without a degree in hand is a bad idea no matter how you slice it though. Even if a fantastic program picked up Henry he is going to get one year on the team and at least 2 years in the classroom to get that bachelor's degree given that any decent school will require 60 credits at their institution.

All in due time, my friend. Seller asking a ridiculous price now. Lol I've been wondering for years how much that guy is holding out for. I think the last time I saw the listing the price was $2 million. He won't get it.

Great point on getting the dome renovations completed before the recent huge price increases. I believe, but am not 100% positive, that they are adding more parking south of the SCSC I've also heard that a parking lot is being installed south of the SCSC. Something I've shouted about since the concept images came out back in like 2014.

Arizona nearly won the national championship this year. Good field.

There is no point in really having this discussion until at least November 2021, so I don't know why this is such a topic right now. I think it's a topic because other teams are playing football right now and everyone here has to be so tired of having seen about the same thing play out every year for close to a decade. The results of the spring season don't bother me so much, given that it doesn't really feel like it ever happened. I was able to watch 2 1/2 games and it was done. I saw a bizarre road game where the opponent (who later cancelled their season) gave up 7 or 8 turnovers, a home opener/finale with a spring game atmosphere, and half of a game at UND because it was on a Thursday for some dumb reason. Missed what would end up being the 4th and final game at Youngstown. I think the only way it could have been weirder is if we got a couple bounces, finished 3-1, and wound in up in the playoffs. Even though the season was a farce, it did happen and will bring out the feelings everyone has been holding on to for years. I have been sour on Bob since Streveler left town and could rehash all my complaints again, but I think we all agree that we don't want Bob to go in the coming months because that is a recipe for disaster. He will have at least one more season and I hope we end up in a situation where we want him to stick around for more than that. Let's wait for the critical season to play out this Fall and then assess the program.

Anyone else remember that one time we did have a winning season? I had absolutely no shortage of people looking to go to games with me that year. The fans are going to be the last piece of the puzzle because who wants to spend their entire Saturday making arrangements to watch a subpar product?
Yes, I'm frustrated these "fans" can't be bothered to just support the team. That's how this all works though. We here are among the upper levels of dedication. Most people don't care this much and just want to have fun. Hard to have fun when you lose more often than not.

All I can think about now is I hope state gets knocked off by somebody in the playoffs. Don't really care who wins as long as it's not them. I saw a tweet that mentioned FCS playoffs today and had a double take. No one is ever going to remember who wins the title. Could be a team that gets more wins in the playoffs than the regular season.

Give FBS a meaningful postseason and you wouldn't see kids opt out. It doesn't happen in basketball or FCS.
