Northern Illinois beat Cal State Northridge 83-71 yesterday. The game against Northern Illinois will begin at 3:30 PM today. Will this be the forgotten about game by most Coyote fans considering the start time and the competition that the game will be going up against for interest. Here is the link for the video but I believe it costs $10.00 for the game. www.niuhuskies.com/collegesportslive/?media=510697

48-38 Coyotes lead after a 10-0 run countering a 10-0 run by Northern Illinois. Nice game so far by the Yotes. They need to hold it together unlike the rest of the Coyote games this week. 12:58 to go in the game.

Why does it feel like it will take a miracle to win this game. Now it's 62-59. Burnett makes it 62 all.

Mr. Kaboom is angry about a non call on a basketball interference. The way he reacted it sounded like he was right. There is a black cloud following the Coyote athletic program this weekend.

2:19 left and it's 69-64 bad guys. Apparently the calls are mainly going against the Coyotes in this one.

Another Coyote collapse. The final is 72-65. The Yotes only scored 14 points in the last 10:00. Offense is an issue.

Coach Smith's comments
Great effort for most of the game. Learning things about the team. played 7 guys too long. Said they were a sieve defensively. 17 Offensive boards by NIU. guards did not rebound. 57% shooting for NIU in 2nd half. Didn't make free throws enough. Played better tonight that yesterday. Team came out too tentative. Had good energy the first half. Seniors lead well today. Need to do better with turnovers. Attacked basket better tonight. Norris and McLelland played better today. Gotta figure some things out but we will get there. Gotta get Hagedorn more minutes.

Tough loss, looks like our scoring is mainly the same as it was last year. Someone posted earlier about a more balanced scoring effort, but two games in, I don't see it coming from anyone other than Casey or Tre.

Did I even miss anything in this game? Sounds pretty darn similar to the game I listened to yesterday.

The Coyotes are basically a two man team in Kasperbauer and Burnett. I think Smith building the team so much for 2016-2017 might really hurt the programs momentum for this year but hopefully it's just a matter of a slow start.

Coming up at 1 today for USD is CSU-Northridge. These teams should be rather familiar with each other by now after our 68-65 and 76-75 wins over them the past two years. I was expecting Northridge to be the team to go 0-3 in this event but they beat Wright State yesterday and may be tougher than I expected.

I was also thinking Northridge would finish 0-3 as well but now it appears the Yotes are in danger of going 0-3 themselves. I don't know if the bench has been used alot so far in this tourney which might hurt in the 3rd game in 3 days. Can the Yotes find the energy to pull out the win this afternoon.
