Gosh I am bleeding some serious Coyote Red today and feeling mighty fine. What a win for the Yotes. I sincerely p to believe that the Coyotes should have probably won this game by double digits but credit the Jacks for hanging in there. The Coyotes have not swept the Jacks since the early 90's. The Yotes are now proving on a more consistant basis that they are now the co best program in the Summit with the Jacks. I wonder what the College Insider.Com poll will show for their next mid major ranking. The Yotes were quite a ways behind SDSU in that rankings. If the spots don't swap than what validity does that poll really have. There are some players that I just love on this team. It's always easy to find faults with a team but this team and it's players have been awesome so far. Seekamp has salted away the Summit MVP. What a layup to go behind the back against Miller's defense to get the lay in. Definitely a candidate for play of the year. Somebody was OVERRATED! The interesting thing will be if the Coyotes move into the 4 spot and the Jacks move to 8 - 10, or if the Coyotes move to 8 - 10 and the Jacks move to 15 - 17, or if the polls just keep producing the same crack pot ratings they have always produced. More of a case of USD being underrated in my opinion. It just makes no sense that have been down in the high teens in that poll and it would be nice to see that remedied. On the flip side I do enjoy the ESPN poll having us all the way up at 3rd highest mid-major.

Time for me to eat crow (sort of). Didn't win by 20+, but I thought we were heading that way in the 2nd half. Then those screw last 2 minutes?

SDSU has 1 loss by double digits this year and that was to Notre Dame by 11. Why in the hell would in the Jacks lose by 20+ to USD? Someone needs a reality check. I hope you don't gamble. Congrats on the win by the way. The game in Sioux Falls should be another good one coming down to the last couple of possessions. It's tough to beat a good team 3 times in 1 season!

I was comparing the posts to the rest of the team. USD's top 4 scorers are not your post players. They can post up but they aren't the 3 players that you named. McCloud and Liveringhouse can put up points (they are 5th and 6th on the team in scoring) but they average 14.5 points/game together. If your team didn't have two or so of your top four scorers, your post players would probably step up and score more but they just don't get as many shots because of all of the other weapons that you have. SDSU's post players are 3rd, 5th and 6th on their team in scoring. All three of them have hit a few 3-pointers on the season but most of their work is done down low(minus Boever some but she is 5'9"). There is only one player that is in the top four at either school that is a "post" player. There are probably games when all four (two for each team) of the top post players have lead their team in scoring but it just doesn't happen very consistently. SDSU will probably have a post player or two on the all conference team but I think most people look more at both teams guards. With all of the players that both teams play it is tough to get the stats to receive all-conference awards but both teams will have several players on those teams anyway just because they are head and shoulders better than the other teams. That is what makes it interesting about Seekamp, will she be the conference "Player of the Year". She probably will be because she is the best player on the team that is either 1 or 1a. Miller isn't far behind. They both will probably be in the top 5. Seekamp plays at a different level than Miller. She's a good ball player but it's not that close. Nice try. I do have to agree that in this game Seekamp was much better Miller. When they played in Brookings, it was a fairly even matchup. Seekamp had a few more assists but that was about it. I did say that she will be Player of the Year so that is about what I expected from her. Not quite that dominate(assists and steals) but the best player on the floor. I just didn't think Miller would struggle that bad. USD did play good defense on her, Young and Ober(except for about a 3 minute span) but they did. I was way off on Fogg. She played really good in this game. That was a good game. Two really solid teams playing a close hard fought game. Hopefully round 3 will end differently but we will see.

I find it a little presumptuous that everyone is already planning on the rematch in SF. I keep seeing posts about how "hard it is to beat a team 3 times in a season". Maybe I'm wrong, but if USD/SDSU get the 1/2 seeds then wouldn't we both have to beat a couple teams 3 times in a season to have a rematch in the final? Rest of the conference isn't on the same level as the SoDak "schools" (term used loosely when including state), but they're not gimme games.

Fogg has stepped it up and looks good down low. I think she will be a large contributor for the rest of the season and next year. Liveringhouse is not as quick footed as Fogg and tends to get her shots blocked when a taller player is guarding her. With both, the Yotes should be decent in the post going into next season.
It should be another good game if both teams can make it to the finals in the SLT.

Great game Saturday. Bunny fans(including Matt Zimmer) seem to be setting their hopes on a 3rd game. There are no excuses or anyone to blame for the Jacks losses at the hands of the Yotes. The Coyotes are a much deeper and experienced team, and have stepped up their defense at the right time. Macy and Jill were pretty much held in check til late in the fourth qtr. Liveringhouse and Fogg were the difference. The Jacks bench just isn't as deep as the Yotes. I too am looking forward to a third game as much as the bunny fans. Go Yotes!!!

After beating State college twice, they are still ranked ahead of us... and even moved up one slot? Can anyone please explain to me how this works...?

Another point bunny fans keep stating is how we lose all of our talent with the 5 seniors and have no shot at the title next year so we better hope we win it this year. Others claim most of USD's players are average at best and Seekamp makes them above average.
With how well USD's bench has played to end the season and a non existent bench for the bunnies I think we will be ok. I heard the same comments from bunny fans last year and it turned out ok this year. Both teams are heavy in young talent but outside the starting 5 or 6 for SDSU there is little contribution. Don't crown yourselves champs next year just yet or for the rematch in the SLT championship game which may not even happen. You should not have been the favorite this year.

It will be interesting to see if the incoming freshman Ponder from Bloomington Kennedy is going to get any of the minutes in the post. I looked the other day and I believe she was at 25.5 ppg. She is 6'1" and recruited as a power forward but may be able to post as well. The post recruit from Harlan, IA (Taylor Frederick) is also having a solid season scoring over 17 ppg for a top ranked 4A squad.

Their losses all come against teams squarely in the tournament while we have losses to teams that will not be dancing.

While true, two head to head wins should trump this. As the Summit league sits, there will be no at-large (even though I do think the USD/SDSU loser in the SLT should be an at-large) and the RPI rankings are pretty much meaningless.

Don't crown yourselves champs next year just yet or for the rematch in the SLT championship game which may not even happen. You should not have been the favorite this year. Doesn't USD lose 4 starting seniors that include all-conference players in Seekamp and Hemiller? Then you a lose two solid role players in McCloud and Stewart. That will be very hard to replace all that production. You honestly don't think USD will be as good as they are this year next year do you? SDSU loses 2 seniors (Boever and Cornemann), both who come off the bench. Then SDSU gets Tonia Wade (St. Johns transfer) eligible next year. She was a top 100 recruit out of Kennedy HS in Minnesota. It's going to be very very tough to beat the Jacks the couple of next years especially when USD is playing pretty even SDSU this year (both games have come down to the wire). This is what Graham Hayes had to say about SDSU: "Present good, future better. There are nine freshmen and sophomores on the South Dakota State roster. Ponder that for a minute. The current iteration of this mid-major dynasty is just getting up to speed."
