Don't forget to hit the "recommend" button when you go to the Argus articles. Evidently that helps us get more coverage.

Congrats to all our student athletes. copied below from an email.
VERMILLION, S.D. -- Student-athletes at the University of South Dakota continued to earn high marks in the classroom during the Fall 2010 semester, posting a collective 3.102 term Grade Point Average (GPA), the South Dakota athletic department announced on Wednesday.
"The dedication by these students to perform successfully both on the field/court of competition and in the classroom epitomizes the definition of a Division I student-athlete,” South Dakota Director of Athletics David Sayler said. “I am extremely proud of our 197 student-athletes that achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher. I look forward to recognizing them at our upcoming basketball game on Jan. 27 at halftime and hope Coyote Nation will join us that evening to join in on recognizing the great academic success of our student-athletes."
Ten of USD’s 15 teams attained GPAs of 3.0 or higher for the fall semester, led by women’s basketball at 3.456. Women’s cross country followed at 3.359, with women’s track posting a 3.356 GPA, women’s swimming and diving earning a 3.325, and softball obtaining a 3.316.
“South Dakota student-athletes play to win in the classroom,” South Dakota Coordinator of Athletic Academic Advising Dave Lorenz said. “They have developed good academic behaviors and habits which are critical to achieving success.”
All Coyote teams have cumulative GPAs of 2.9 or higher. Eleven teams have cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher, and as a whole, USD’s student-athletes have a cumulative GPA of 3.163.
For the fall semester, 39 USD student-athletes attained a 4.0 GPA, while 197 had term GPAs of 3.0 or higher. Fourteen student-athletes have 4.0 cumulative GPAs, while 191 have cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher.

Also enjoyed this story about Ricardo Andreotti visiting the Gruis farm during Christmas: www.argusleader.com/article/20110106/COLUMNISTS0108/101060330/1002/SPORTSI realize Andreotti came to us from a JUCO out in Wyoming, but it's still interesting to think about moving from a metro area of 19 million people (on a different continent) to good old Vermillion. The lowest temperature on record in Sao Paulo is 28 degrees!
