The energy of this team is great. They are really starting to mesh well and when they get in a rhythm, they are VERY fun to watch. Good start to the second half.

There has been some very promising flashes from this team. Too bad this game has gone from sloppy to the ugliest game of basketball I've seen going into the under 8. Refocus and we can win this comfortably.

A lot of solid play by this Yote team with streaks of very sloppy play in a solid win against a formidable MAC team. We're going to see a lot of these close games, but getting the win out of them shows a lot. Onto Houston/George Mason!

Yotes win, Yotes win! 5-0 to start the year! This team was really clicking earlier, jumping out to an 11 point lead with around 10 minutes left in the game, but things really devolved and everyone (except Flack somehow) landed in serious foul trouble for a lot of minutes. Perhaps more impressive than when they were clicking is how the team managed to fight one out with everyone on the brink of fouling out.
Yotes play winner of Houston and George Mason tomorrow at approximately 6:30 Central Time.

Coyotes win 80-77 over Kent State. That is one of those games that makes ya proud to watch the team. I wasn't able to see the first half due to other pesky obligations but the second half was a good one. Apparently Kent State had one or two different double digit leads in the first half only to see the Coyotes rally. The Yotes had at least an 11 point lead in the second half but Kent State rallied. I had a hard time predicting who I thought would end up winning this one.
The Coyotes did some good things down the stetch. Up one with about a minute to go Hurst had a man's man defensive rebound where he just willed his way into the board. Then up one Mooney tried a 3 but it rimmed out and Flack had a very nice and athletic rebound tip in that wanted to come off the front of the rim but luckily nestled back in. Kent had a chance to tie with a three late but missed just before the buzzer and Kent couldn't foul in time. I was happy with the overall offensive effort as the Yotes looked smooth on that end of the floor. Mooney is going to be an opponent killer. I like the way the offense flowed in the game but defense was kind of lacking from both teams a bit.
Some things that definitely will need to be worked on are are overall defense and ball security. There were many times that some stick em on the hands would have been nice. Alot of turnovers and trouble securing loose balls. The Yotes need to be a little stingier on defense but today any way it was just good enough.
Tomorrow will by far be the biggest test of the year. If the Coyotes win tomorrow that would be a very nice accomplishment assuming Houston wins but even if it's George Mason whoever wins the night cap will be a tough out.
I am just glad I am able to watch again tomorrow as they play at night. If the last minute goes differently the Yotes are playing an early afternoon game.
Great to be in the winners bracket and go Yotes.

Well the Coyotes better strap up their laces very tight for tomorrow. The tourney favorite Houston is crushing George Mason 48-26 at half. I am glad the Coyotes are probably going to be playing Houston. They will test every Coyotes vulnerability. Can the Yotes pull off what would be a pretty big upset.

I haven't watched much of the game but George Mason doesn't really look very good. I hope that Kent State beats them just to make the Coyotes look a little better. That doesn't take anything away from Houston because they sure look impressive. My envision when I saw the brackets was that I wanted to see the Coyotes play Houston and Vermont. Both are still alive to happen. Since USD is the University of a particular state I want them to play as many like schools as possible and that is why I want to see Vermont. Plus I like to play those New England teams.

93-56 Houston. Wow. I hope the Coyotes give a better account of themselves then George Mason just did. If the Coyotes win tomorrow I will elevate them to Summit co favorite status with NDSU. It's a good thing that 10 Coyotes played decent minutes because that depth will be needed over the next couple of days. Win or lose the Houston game will likely take a lot out of the Yotes. I really like these tourneys that require 3 games in 3 days because it tests a lot about a team.

Just getting home from the game tonight and supper afterwards. I thought the refs took us out of our game the first half as Flack and Jeck both got in trouble early. A lot of ticky tack calls. But might have been a blessing to have that much in the tank for the 2nd half. We are so much more athletic than the past couple of years. It also appears they really enjoy playing together. Great chemistry.
As good as they played the game with Houston will be a monumental task. I watched the first 10 minutes if their game with George Mason and they are really athletic and big. Our kids were super excited for the win, I'll tell you that. All in all a good day to be a Coyote. ( like everyday )

Personally, after watching them play several times already this year, I think they can match up physically with anybody...

Personally, after watching them play several times already this year, I think they can match up physically with anybody... You know I am pro coyote 100% of the time, but trust me when I tell you we don't match up physically with Houston. I'm a believer there's always a chance we can win every game, but it will have to come from the perimeter. Our kids play really hard, but winning this game tonight would be a rather big upset. Saying all that, I hope we play well and get a W.
