Hofstra zone bothered the Yotes in the first half but the Yotes full court press bothered them in the 2nd. We didn't lose because of the refs but there were some "interesting" fouls and non-fouls that went both ways. IMHO we need to set more screens to get better 3s. Considering the competition the last two games the Yotes hung in there especially when you consider the short time they've played together!! GO YOTES!!!

I will agree that the team has been promising thus far when you consider how little time they've spent together and how little D1 experience the group has. I just feel this performance was a step back from our other 4 D1 games. Disappointed to see the regression, but hopeful there are lessons learned and the team improves from this.

Hofstra was pretty good last year. They were 14-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association and had a 24-10 overall record. I am not sure how strong the Colonial is but 14-4 is good in any D1 conference. They also made the NIT and if they made that tourney they had to be pretty good. Playing Houston had to take something out of SD, especially since today was the third game in three days. Hofstra was in the same boat though but they never had to play the Cougars either.

Those commentators had to be students or something. No way someone gets paid to put out that kind of product. They didn't seem to understand what was going on in the game at any point. If you're listening at home though you just kind of figure they are correct though, we usually don't have video evidence of radio commentators being terrible. I do believe Mooney had a dirty foul when he rammed a guy with his chest from behind at the end. Made no play on the ball whatsoever. Was surprised they did not go to the monitor on that one. Hard to tell how much of it was on Mooney and how much was the Hofstra player taking a dive, as they all seemed to hit the floor anytime they drew any contact. That guy was flop city. Little disappointed in the refs but that's certainly not why we lost. Shooting 30% from the floor and getting out rebounded by that margin isn't going to get it done. As others have said, learning experience. Time to move on. Go Yotes!

It used to be a way tougher conference getting multiple bids in 06, 07, and 11, but they haven't sniffed one since VCU, George Mason, and Old Dominion bolted in 2013.

So this is what you were all talking about when you said they couldn't shoot/score against Houston, huh? It looked like they were a bunch of freshman out there and panicked on offense a lot. Seemed they were either throwing up crazy shots or missing simple ones.
BTW - I have never seen a black jersey that looked sharp. Every. One. Horrible. The grays are an improvement over the best black uni.

Houston barely holds on against Vermont and wins it 72-71. What an effort by the Catamounts to get that close by the end. Maybe I gave the Coyotes too big of a pass against Houston either that or Vermont played one heck of a 2nd half.

I was watching the game on and off, didn't see Mooney's shooting %, so my comments were to a smaller sample than for those of you who saw the entire game.
I do give credit though to players who are still moving their feet on defense late in 3rd game/3rd day. He made a couple of steals late that came from hard work. And he wasnt alone in the 'hustle category'.
