I am watching the NDSU/SDSU game along with the Yotes WBB game. Both of these teams do not look so great so far, but it is still early. NDSU started the game 0-9 on 3 pt attempts. SDSU offense in a nutshell: they throw it to Daum on one wing and clear out. He creates space and scores at will if there is no help D.

SDSU offense in a nutshell: they throw it to Daum on one wing and clear out. He creates space and scores at will if there is no help D. Was about to jump in myself and mention that NDSU looks like the worst three-point shooting team I've seen in the past several years, but you already had that somewhat covered. It's borderline uncomfortable to watch at this point. Frankly, if SDSU were any good, they'd be up 15 right now. NDSU is shooting 32% from the field, 13% from three at 2-15. Just brutal. And it's definitely NOT because SDSU's defense is good. Several threes have been wider than wide open. Also, I'm not exactly sure what Richman is thinking, but choosing to let Daum go in with one defender as he slowly plods his way from the wing into the paint for a baby hook 4 feet away from the basket and not sending a second defender to double him is mind-boggling to me.

NDSU ties it up with 9 min left.

Deng Geu a R-Fr from Sioux Falls Wash. has had some minutes tonight. Hasn't shot well, but had a pretty sweet baseline dunk.

Bison played with a lot more intensity in the 2nd half. Paul Miller still hasn't found a shot he didn't like. He got hot in the 2nd and NDSU win 80-69.

I don't know if it good for the Yotes to have to play SDSU on their court after losing a long home court winning streak or after they would have escaped against a Bison team that didn't seem to play very well for a lot of the game. Maybe it doesn't really matter. The key for the Coyotes, please do not let the crowd play a huge factor in the game which is WAY easier said then done. That will be SDSU's best medicine.
Denver nipped Oral Roberts at home 77-73. That was about the only predictable thing that happened in the Summit tonight.

58 points for NDSU in the second half. Yikes.

After watching last night's game, I will be somewhat disappointed if we don't beat the Bunnies by 10-15. I know, I know, it's hard to win at Frost, they'll be coming back vengeful after losing to NDSU, Daum is a beast, etc. etc., but I honestly don't think I've seen a team look as bad as NDSU looked in that first half last night and the Bison STILL won by 11.
NDSU shot 39 threes and only made 13 and even that was enough to pick apart the various SDSU zone attempts. I know the Bison had a much better second half than first half, but part of that was due to the fact that the only reason NDSU was down 15 at halftime was their inability to hit wide open shots-or any shots at all, it seemed. It really was nothing that SDSU did to stop them.
Maybe the new coach is adjusting some things after last night's collapse and the Bunnies will be more prepared for the Yotes, but based on the three or four SDSU games I've watched this season, I feel pretty good about Saturday's matchup unless we really come out and lay a gigantic egg.
Of course, I hope Coach Smith has the guys more focused on Omaha than SDSU right now. Just saying, Saturday could be fun.

I watched some of the NDSU/SDSU men's game on Midco while watching the women's game online.
SDSU really struggles on defense. They may have a very long season. When Daum is out, not shooting well, or getting doubled they have zero shot at winning games with the rest of the players on that team.
I too will be very disappointed if we do not win in Brookings on Saturday.

Western Illinois won in Fort Wayne tonight 93-91. WIU has an RPI of 341 (there are only 351 teams). IPFW seemed like the clear favorite to win the league and has a very impressive win over Indiana already. Wow.

Western Illinois was 18 of 37 from downtown. Fort Wayne may very well recover to win the league but they will be fighting to make up for a game that most or all teams will be able to count as a win when they host the Necks. The league was turned upside down this week. SDSU, Omaha and Fort Wayne all lose with two of those being home court losses. Denver, USD and Western Illinois all bottom feeder teams last year all were impressive in their openers, especially the Coyotes and Leathernecks.

John Konchar for IPFW is shooting 70.5% from the floor on 98-139. That is absurd. Ironically he is shooting 69.6% from FT. He also is 2nd in the league in rebounds and pretty much top 10 in every stat category. I've always liked his game. He will be a tough opponent for years to come as he is a R-So.

Is it possible that the ORU AD/head coach hate their MBB team? They have had 5 home game so far this season, with 2 of them being non-D1. And 4 of the road games where against Top 40 RPI teams (2 in Top 10). Then the brain trust at SL scheduling put them on the road for their first 3 conference games too. (side note - how does that happen Mr. Doupel or whatever your name is - give every team a home game during the holidays)
