SDSU vs NDSU = FAKE RIVALRY The Dakota Marker is a made up trophy used to promote this forced rivalry back when these two schools moved to the Great West. Let's not anybody forget that. And yet it is the only local rivalry anyone really cares about and the only one SDSU fans and players, and Bison fans and players truly care about. Will the USD v SDSU game ever get back to where it was before SDSU moved up? This year will tell a lot about what happens in the future. But for you to degrade the game for the Dakota Marker? May I suggest you ask a player from SDSU or NDSU what is the most important conference game of the year. Reading your comment, you might be surprised. Says the Bunnie fan posting on the Coyote message board.

You're being willfully ignorant. Look at the interest SDSU fans still have in USD even though the two schools have never played a meaningful football game. I get that the xDSUs wanted a rivalry game at D1, and later that SDSU wanted to be associated with NDSU's monumental success, but as time goes on the natural rivalries will always be more prominent. Just look at the obsession that NDSU fans have with UND. They don't even play each other and the venom is still there. As time goes on and everyone experiences ups and downs these natural rivalries will be bigger. NDSU-SDSU is a game of heightened interest, same as any SD-ND game, but this wasn't considered a rivalry until circumstances forged it. Natural will always beat out manufactured.

So I won't be seeing any Blue in the Dome in a couple weeks when we play the Jacks because nobody locally cares about it. Got it. Sounds good.

Only local rivalry anyone really cares about? You're being willfully ignorant. [...] As time goes on and everyone experiences ups and downs these natural rivalries will be bigger. I'd be willing to bet that it is somewhat a generational thing. Those that have been Jacks fans mainly in the last decade or so will likely not understand the importance of the USD/SDSU rivalry. Older fans likely have a better perspective, and will "get back into it" more quickly. For the younger fans we will probably have to have some sustained success against them in the big 3 sports to change the thinking, but it will happen.

After spending one gameday in Fargo I learned their chief rival is actually James Madison.

If we win I don’t know how we don’t end up with a seed.

They also had a win in Fargo, which is worth more. FBS win will help but I'm not sold we are seeded with a win Saturday. Could go either way.

If we win I don’t know how we don’t end up with a seed. 3 losses sounds like the fringe to me. Could go either way. I agree completely. I don't think there are 8 other teams in the country that would get through the Coyotes schedule with a record better then 8-3. The Coyotes had most of their tough games on the road this year. Even James Madison might pick up 3 losses. I think if the committee looks at this completely objectively with no bias what-so-ever I think the Coyotes are one of those top 8. If you look at the 3 losses the Coyotes don't really have a bad one and they don't really even have many questionable wins either. Unfortunately these are human beings making this decision and there are biases and the fact that the Coyotes have not been on this block before will most likely work against them. It shouldn't but it most likely will. If the Coyotes lose than they pick up one home loss, finish 1-4 and be 1-4 against the other playoff contenders from the conference. Considering the finish to the season and without the quality win I don't think the Yotes should make the playoffs. It is good either way that the Coyotes are going through this make or break it type game. We have not had a home game to end the season that I can remember that a resulting win would definitely clinch a playoff spot.
