K State is a weird place. Maybe he could parlay it into his dream Power 5 job but is it worth the risk?

Those KState people are morons. Hope he doesn't go there; he doesn't deserve that kind of grief plus probably having Snyder peaking over his shoulder. He has earned the right to that type of paycheck though. Those fans represent the common opinion of FCS football. No one respects it. This even coming from fans of the program that lost to NDSU as defending Big 12 champs. Pretty clear Klieman's teams have all been better than theirs for years. But the perception remains. If its got Dakota in the name they have to look down upon it. If NDSU hasn't broken that perception then no one ever will.

Had USD won you would know first hand. The Yotes came close so you might have some idea. Better to build up what we have, building, expanding and improving on what is ours. It’s laughable to think any of the Dakota schools have a future among them. Our future is right here where it has always been among the Augies. They know that at NDSU. That may be why they are able to parlay similar assets into something unique. KSUs new head coach, from NDSU, is hired by a former NDSU AD. Some of those KSU players are going to play pro ball maybe for an NDSU coach. When NDSU needed a D1 conference they made one. NDSU isn’t putting on airs. They are just working at being the best and their people go forth as ambassadors for us all. To heck with any invites to someplace else further away and less friendly. UND found that out. Augie is one of the assets in our region. If they pass inspection they should be welcome into our conferences. The way the idiots in Manhattan think is proof enough. Augie gives us a local rival. They are ambitious and will feast on the Summit teams that are aloof and disinterested. Their football will be determined and competitive. They will help make money for everyone. Our future is with our own neighbors. If Augie passes the tests and is ready the reaction of the Kansas jackasses should be the proof you need to support Augies entry and recognize they too are growing up.

The above post is Billy Madison-esque. How is Augie related here?

The above post is Billy Madison-esque. How is Augie related here? I think "Augie-to-the-Summit" is Aldewit's version of Coyote Fan's "attendance conspiracy" or "I am the only objective fan" rants. It's an obsession that appears in multiple unrelated threads, much to the annoyance of board readers and participants. To be clear, I am one that is on-board with Augie, but there are many on here that disagree, and that's fine. To bring up the point repeatedly and obsessively with nobody engaging you in conversation about it anymore is clearly not the best strategy for changing anyone's minds on the subject IMHO. We have discussed it to death. Nobody cares anymore, unless there is actually some new news on the subject.

I can actually understand the mentality of KSU fans. From their POV, Snyder had built them up into a national power at one point, when looking for a new coach they rightfully think they should be able to get an up and comer FBS coach from the G5 or a hot coordinator from a P5 program. It is probably disappointing to them they are dipping into the FCS ranks for a coach, and then build in that Gene Taylor is an NDSU guy and he's going to the NDSU well for a coach, they probably see him as not having much vision. Thing is, they are wrong, Klieman will do well there if they give him a chance. They got a good coach, they just don't know it yet.

I pray that the schools that don't have "Dakota" in their name or UND come out to oppose Augie's admission to the Summit, but I don't see that happening. Adding Augie will be a huge mistake for the Summit and for the Dakota schools that are trying to grow into something bigger and better and who should be associating with other peer state universities, not some tiny private school that can't afford to excel in D1 (a 300 meter track? Really?) and will always be a millstone around our necks that will siphon off a portion of the few corporate resources in this state. But enough Augie talk. Yeah, it's been beat to death on here.

I agree Yote 53! If you're really not going to IMPROVE your conference then what's the point!!

While I like Coach Nielson and think we're on the right track, he still has a lot to prove at USD. Anything's possible, but 16-19 in three years isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

I agree with both above. Anything is possible in these coaching carousels but I like our chances.

I agree Yote 53! If you're really not going to IMPROVE your conference then what's the point!! The reaction by the KSU fans should tell you something. It reminds me we are all Augies. That’s how Augie fits in here. I don’t know from improve? Augie will make USD money for starters. They will improve USD BB attendance by several thousand and eliminate two money losing guarantee payments. In football they eliminate another rather large guarantee. They improve the Summit by preserving the auto bids. What they do in football remains to be seen. Klimans gone. he is in Kansas today. He was a good coach and fine man but he needs to stay in Kansas now. He has no role in Fargo anymore unless the Bison show up on the schedule. The Big 12 isn’t that good. They book FCS for certain wins. If you don’t rollover for them you aren’t coming back anytime soon. That’s why it would be nice to smack OK in the face. The more we pressure them with good football the more uncomfortable they become. When they no longer book the MVFC we will know our work is done. That’s why the OK game is big.
