Just for the record I had very little issue with the officiating tonight. I thought they really called a fair game.

A true Yote fan would recall the UCLA game I had 15 minutes for this and the UCLA game for eight. Maybe my memory is fading along with everything else. You could be right, it was unreasonably long at any rate. When we called our final timeout with over a minute to go the commentators called it a "bold move". I thought otherwise because the final minute of a close game comes with many built-in timeouts.

I certainly didn't see anything wrong with a time out called there. If you need it, take it. Maybe if you don't, things get away from you and then it's a moot point anyway. And you're right, in close games there always seem to be stoppages. Too many sometimes.

Don't save them for when it's too late. Smith knows exactly what he's doing.

Good game to watch. SDSU just can’t close out games. Not tough enough. It’s going to be a brawl in Sioux Falls. I thought Mooney hit some big shots, but he took 26 shots and scored 30. When he’s more efficient your team is much better. I thought the reffing was pretty good. The only call I remember that was bad was Fuller getting fouled right before he fouled out. Obviously they always miss some, but overall they were good. Again, fun game and it’ll be even more fun for the NCAA tourney spot.

A few other teams might have something to say about that. Also the officiating was fine tonight.

Haven't looked at a box score yet, but 30 points on 26 shots is just not good. I would guess that low percentage was a product of a cold 1st half (but I don't know yet). Agreed that the refs mostly got it right. Some questionable calls, of course, but I don't feel they had any real impact. That game in Sioux Falls is going to be nuts.

That's the definition of efficient.

Not sure either team can feel too great about the game. Other than each team's own scoring runs (SDSU in the first half, USD in the second), the game seemed to be defined by standing around and the occasional lucky bounce. Neither team made a bunch of plays - had to be frustrating to coach. Other than the fact it was a close game, I thought it was a boring game. (By comparison, the two WBB teams put on an intense show for 40 minutes on Wednesday)

Going in I was interested to see if the Jacks had discovered religion on the defensive side of the ball. I must admit their interior defense was better than January (could it be any worse), and I think it eventually was a differentiating factor. TBM, Fuller and Hagedorn had more difficulty in the paint this time around.
However, I also believe the Coyotes had a ton of unforced errors, turnovers, losing defensive rebounds out of bounds, missed layups that were really out of character for this team.
Have a very positive view going into the SLT!
As for Mooney, I think he had a great game, again. We are best, because of our depth, when multiple players are scoring, but if we need a spark, like last night, I'm totally comfortable with putting the ball in Matt's hands.
This is a good team Yotes fans, let's enjoy March!!

Just for the record I had very little issue with the officiating tonight. I thought they really called a fair game. Yep. The only thing I would say is the replays at the end determining possession on balls that went out of bounds, I think they got it wrong. The first one that went out of bounds, you could see the ball go past the USD defender, who did touch it, but then it went past him and hit Daum right on the hand and went out of bounds. That should have been USD ball inbounding there with like 2.7 seconds left and down by 3. Instead the ball went to State. I just don't see how they take 5 minutes to look at that and then come to the conclusion they did.

He put up 17 of those shots in the second half as the Coyotes got back into the game. I doubt anybody's complaining about him taking too many shots when they watch the tape.
