I hope 12 minutes a game and 6 points is worth it. No offense but that shows your basketball iq.

None taken. You only mentioned my basketball IQ — not my overall IQ. Could be worse. Thanks for the insight.

I will say that after USD lost to SDSU in Brookings, Mooney was in the arena talking to some USD fans. I don't know if they were his grandparents or not but he thanked them for coming to the game. They might have just been normal fans but he was really polite to them and they were about that age. I always knew that he was a good ball player but I appreciated him more after that. The Summit league wasn't deep for great teams last year. USD"s women went undefeated in conference play but they only seemed to have about 3 tough games. SDSU men lost at USD but they only had that loss or they would have been undefeated, too. I didn't know if more teams would come up and challenge SDSU and USD but with players like Daum, Mooney, Koncher, etc... there were some players that are fun to watch. It's good for SDSU but bad for USD, the league and fans that Mooney is leaving. I guess we just have to move on. As far as the attendance thing goes, what came first the chicken or the egg. Does a good team bring in more fans or are the fans supposed to lift the team? USD's attendance went from 1745 fans/game when he arrived to 2269 fans/game last year. That is a 23% increase in fans. That means USD is heading in the right direction but just not fast enough for him. He is fairly young so he probably didn't look at USD's average attendance when he decided to go there to play. I think USD goes by tickets sold so maybe those numbers are way off but that is what USD's website says. (I know this normally starts a discussion but I wanted to bring those numbers in since they relate to this topic). I don't blame Mooney if he didn't think he would fit in with something the new coach was selling. Regardless of where he plays, he will have to adjust to a new coach and new system. The plus at USD is it would be with most of the same team. USD is not a power 5 team and they do not have that type of schedule. Those and a different new coach are the things that he had to move on to get. I do not think this says anything about your new coach. Just because one player that only has one season left decides to move on to bigger and better (in his mind) things doesn't mean anything. I'm sure none of you fans were thinking that but I want you to know that I think that, too.

Mooney said in the interview with John Thayer that the move was to improve his game in the eyes of scouts with the goal of playing professionally. Thinks he can do that better at the next level, which he is right about.

The longer this decision takes the more I think he's second-guessing his decision to leave.

The longer this decision takes the more I think he's second-guessing his decision to leave. He had a visit this weekend. I’m assuming you’ll hear within the week where he’s going to go.

There's little rush for him to make a decision.

There's little rush for him to make a decision. I disagree. Graduation was this weekend and he’ll need to pick a school, get enrolled, and start summer classes and workouts with the team.

I enjoyed the career of Mooney. He made unbelievable shots and offense can win games with a guy like Mooney on the floor. Rebounding and defense are suppose win games, but Mooney does drive that topic off track.

That was the school that stuck out to me when the names started coming out. Chris Beard looks like an incredible up-and-coming coach in the NCAA, already taking Texas Tech to its deepest tournament run in school history (Elite 8) in his 2nd season.
Not sure how many minutes he'll get but I wish him the best.

Matt is the calming force that is keeping Texas Tech in the game and hitting free throws down the stretch. It is nice to see some underdogs moving on for a change!!!
