Also, last year they out-rebounded us 43-34, led by Sara Rhine's 12 off the bench. That can't happen again. Frederick and Duffy were our leading rebounders, and not coincidentally were our tallest players that played all game. Sjerven would help us immensely in that stat, I think.

Sjerven hasn’t been much of a factor offensively in the first two games and I think that has to change. With Rhine being as effective as she has been thus far the game very well could come down to which big gets into foul trouble. It doesn’t necessarily have to be Sjerven who attacks Rhine but it wouldn’t hurt to get her some post touches and see if you can get her going early and get Rhine to pick up a couple quick fouls.

This is just too big of a game to not be at. So gotta get that vehicle gasses up and ready for tomorrow night. This program is such a joy and gives so much to its fans. It has given me some great times and memries for sure. I dont think the Yotes have even played to their full capability yet and just knocked off one of the best traditional mid major powers. I think the crowd plays a big factor and being the first home game i think the Coyotes will have plenty of energy. i am going 73-64 Coyotes.

Tough to say. I watched a bit of the Drake-SDSU game and the Bulldogs looked less athletic to me than they did last season. They looked like they were missing a couple of starters more than maybe some might have thought. Then they went out and handled Iowa State. But I kind of wonder how much the Cyclones are missing Carleton.
Either way, I agree. Should be a good game. Hopefully there's a big, noisy crowd and they leave happy.

Another way to look at it is this: both teams come into the game undefeated, and with loads of preseason hype. If either team starts to believe the hype, they just might lose. I doubt either team suffers from that malady, but who knows?
I think if either team goes cold from the arc they will have a difficult time winning.

Feels like a game where Hittner-Duffy and Rhine-Sjerven might kind of cancel each other out and it'll come down to Lamb, McKeever and Arens outplaying Drake's other three starters.

I feel like whenever I predict a game score I end up jinxing them, so I'll refrain from that this time. I'll just say that an OT game would not surprise me in the least.

From the ESPN midmajor ranking article:
The thing about picking your poison when it comes to playing Drake is that you still end up with poison. South Dakota State and Iowa State tried to make life difficult for reigning Missouri Valley Conference player of the year Becca Hittner in Drake's opening two games. They tried to take away the space and lanes the Bulldogs star exploits so well.
The problem? Sara Rhine hit 20 of 28 shots in the first two games. It's nice to have two players on the Wade Trophy watch list.
With the top two teams set to meet Wednesday in Vermillion, South Dakota, here are the latest mid-major rankings.
1. Drake (2-0) Drake's relationship with the 3-pointer is interesting. The Bulldogs are one of the NCAA's most prolific and most accurate teams from behind the line, and they showed that by hitting 15 in a win against Iowa State this past weekend. But they aren't doomed in big games if they don't get those shots (as in a win against South Carolina last season) or don't display their usual marksmanship (as in last week's season-opening win against South Dakota State). Last ranking: 1
2. South Dakota (2-0) The Coyotes are the only team here that opened with consecutive road games, at Northeastern and Green Bay. Although a 66-60 victory at Green Bay might sound modest, that's the most points the Phoenix had allowed in a regulation home loss since the 2014-15 season. South Dakota is also the only team with Ciara Duffy, which helps explain why it remains unbeaten after those road games. The senior's totals: 45 points, 15 rebounds, 13 assists, 54% shooting. Now she gets another chance against Drake, against which she endured one of her more frustrating games last season, with five points on 2-for-11 shooting. After Drake, South Dakota plays Utah, Missouri, Missouri State and Ohio State in succession. Last ranking: 2

Drake, Utah, Missouri, Missouri State, and Ohio State in succession, following Northeastern and Green Bay. That's one hell of a schedule to start the year. Can we just win them all?

Student section looking pretty empty. I was hopeful the Crazies would come back to life for hoops season.

13-4 Drake 5 minutes in. We look horribly unorganized.
