Looks like Graham went for coffee this morning in Downtown Vermillion:

Great article, written by Graham Hays (ESPNW writer that was in attendance). Graham also is the guy that does ESPN's women's mid-major poll. He was impressed by both teams, so I'll assume Drake won't drop too far. And they shouldn't. Everyone should read that (long) article. It is full of good stuff. Here are some quotes: "Wednesday's game between the Coyotes and Bulldogs was women's college basketball at peak entertainment. And there wasn't a glass slipper to be found. Just two teams that are better than most people realize and that nobody should want to play come March." "But Wednesday's game also will likely only serve to keep both teams out of the AP Top 25 ... Beating another mid-major doesn't buy much prestige with voters or the NCAA tournament selection committee. It's their loss." "Drake didn't look like the best mid-major through two and a half quarters -- it looked like one of the best teams, period." ""I was probably way too stubborn," Plitzuweit said "I wanted to try to say that we could guard Drake in a man-to-man, but we couldn't." "Drake would have escaped against most teams. [...] But South Dakota, the Summit League favorite, isn't most teams. The Coyotes aren't always bigger, faster, stronger. They are tougher...." That's really a fun article to read. Thanks for finding and posting it.

Gopheryote actually posted a link to that article first, but sometimes those article links in Tweets are easy to miss. I didn't want anyone to miss it.

I guess I'm surprised ESPN sent a writer to cover the game. That's pretty cool.

I don't have the steal that set this up, but here is the shot that forced OT Those Arens sisters- First there was Bridget, and then Allison, and then Monica. Add the initials up and you get BAM!, with Monica adding the exclamation point last night!!!!

...or BAMA with Alexis (2020). She wasn't offered by USD, but I'll be interested to see where she ends up playing.

That had to have been a long busride back to des moines last night. Drake did everything they could to hold off the Yotes but couldnt pull far enough away to feel to secure about things.
I noticed Duffy was not looking for her outside shot much. Maybe it had to do with being defended too closely but i would had liked to see her shoot more from the arc.
Just a great game to be at. This team is like that addiction that ya just cant shake or want to shake.

Does anyone know if Guebert decided to red shirt as i have not seen her in the lineup yet? To be honest, I thought all three freshmen would redshirt, given the depth. Hempe has a minor knee injury, and won’t play this year. Jeniah has actually gotten some minutes, and looks good out there. I’m pretty sure the coaches decide who to redshirt, though. I agree about wanting to see Duffy shooting more, but I’m sure there was a reason. She was dishing out some good assists and pass penetration. One thing to note was that the reason Monica was so open to hit the game-tying shot was that Duffy was being doubled. That’s a great intangible she gives us.

Was wondering what the rules are on redshirts now? Guebert did play vs. Drake - she went in the last 10 seconds of the first half, presumably to try to get an open 3 at the buzzer. Does that alone pull her redshirt?

Google indicates that in college BB a player to be eligible to redshirt must not have played even for 1 minute of competition, so assuming that is right Guebert wouldn't be able to redshirt. Coach P evidently plans on using her more this year.

I think exceptions have been made in the past by the NCAA on redshirts, but usually it is for medical redshirts.
I’m glad to see both freshmen getting playing time. It probably speaks to their potential, because there is absolutely a learning curve in Coach P’s motion offense.

Remember Rachel Banham playing for the Gophers at UND in 2014 when she injured her knee. Since the Gophers had not exceeded one third of their season games, she was eligible for a medical redshirt.
