I don't have the steal that set this up, but here is the shot that forced OT

Just when we start to think this team is mortal, and have met their match...
They just take it to another level. Such a pleasure to follow this team.

I don't have the steal that set this up, but here is the shot that forced OT The mental toughness to do that when you're 1-for-7 from the floor at that point is so damn impressive. All those Arens girls do is make big plays.

Wow, what a win. We could very easily be 1-2. Winning these close games seem so much more important for the women than it does the men. For the women each one of these games could end up being the difference between getting an at large or being forced to win the SLT to get in. If we were 1-2 right now I would already be thinking we damn well better win the SLT if we want to get in. Of course we want to win the SLT and hopefully we will be the favorites to do that, but it would sure take some pressure off if we were pretty sure we had an at large in our back pocket.
Not sure how Duffy got as many points as she did, it didn't seem like she ever had the ball.

I feel bad for all Coyote fans who weren’t in the SCSC tonight. What a game! And there is that Arens kids making plays to help get the Yotes the win. She not only hit the bucket to send it to OT, she dove on the loose ball the possession before that to get the Coyotes the ball back with 2.5 left.

Talk about gutsy. Wow. Lamb and Arens will get a lot of love for the shots late but McKeever was the hero of that one to me. It was nice to see her look to score when the offense was struggling. She has always been a great defender but tonight we saw some flashes of what made her such a prolific scorer in high school. Even when she didn’t shoot she was drawing defenders with that great shot fake and drive.

Most exciting game since the Michigan State game a few years ago. I thought we were lucky to only be down five at the end of the first quarter as poorly as we had played. I don't know what was up with the defense, but I've never seen them turn their back on the ball and chase cutters like that. And eight turnovers...woof. I thought we were lucky to only be down ten at half for about the same reason, but I also thought we had blown a big chance with #5 and #50 on the bench the entire quarter with two fouls apiece. Then Drake comes out and jumps the lead in the third and I thought we were done, but we managed to cut into it big time when we switched to the zone. Who would have thought that the way to cool off a hot shooting team was by utilizing a zone? I finally thought we blew our last chance when we went close to the first four minutes of the fourth quarter without scoring and Drake was in the bonus early while still having three fouls to give before we were shooting. The Bulldogs never really capitalized on that though. Lot of different players stepped up and hit big shots tonight, McKeever most notably, and the free throw shooting at the end was just cold blooded. I guess Yogi Berra was right.

Amazing comeback not starting well on O or D!! One thing about this team is they will never give up and they will always battle!! And they are so experienced and balanced that a number of different players at any time can light it up as they showed tonight! I thought a telling stat was bench points--Coyotes 20 Drake 8 which is interesting since the Drake bench played 62 minutes to the Coyotes 51.
Thrilling win Lady Yotes!!! Keep getting better!

Absolutely. I like this quote from Duffy in the Argus: “"I think this team just has a lot of grit, to be honest," Duffy said. "It's not always pretty like we saw in this game, but we've been through a lot together... When you can have that trust in each other, you can rely on each other when things aren't going your way, you can lean on each other and I think that's what we do."

A couple of interesting observations about the game: - Going to the zone kind of neutralized Sjerven's minutes in the 2nd half, which gave her fresh legs in OT. She made a bunch of plays in OT that won't show up in the stat sheet. - Drake's defensive strategy was similar to SDSU's last year - be very aggressive and handsy, essentially daring the refs to blow the whistle on every pass/dribble. And it worked pretty well (refs didn't blow the whistle on handsy fouls), with the exception of the post players. Which turned out to be a big exception, as it required key players for them to sit, and ultimately left them without gas in the tank at the end of the game. Watch any of the highlights from 4th qtr or OT, and Drake's defenders are slow and late. Much like the SDSU game in the SCSC last year.

This really was a team effort game, exactly what you want to see for a top tier team. Though I’m still slightly worried that it took some amazing contested threes late in the game to win. Our ball movement against the zone was never very good, but the fact that we still won is a good sign.

What an entertaining game last night! I have to say, I was extremely impressed with Drake. The speed at which they run their offense, the hard cuts, the constant screening all added up to a tough team to stop. Defensively they were solid as well. Collier caused fits on both ends of the court. This Drake team will be a tough out for anyone.

Great article, written by Graham Hays (ESPNW writer that was in attendance). Graham also is the guy that does ESPN's women's mid-major poll. He was impressed by both teams, so I'll assume Drake won't drop too far. And they shouldn't. Everyone should read that (long) article. It is full of good stuff. Here are some quotes: "Wednesday's game between the Coyotes and Bulldogs was women's college basketball at peak entertainment. And there wasn't a glass slipper to be found. Just two teams that are better than most people realize and that nobody should want to play come March." "But Wednesday's game also will likely only serve to keep both teams out of the AP Top 25 ... Beating another mid-major doesn't buy much prestige with voters or the NCAA tournament selection committee. It's their loss." "Drake didn't look like the best mid-major through two and a half quarters -- it looked like one of the best teams, period." ""I was probably way too stubborn," Plitzuweit said "I wanted to try to say that we could guard Drake in a man-to-man, but we couldn't." "Drake would have escaped against most teams. [...] But South Dakota, the Summit League favorite, isn't most teams. The Coyotes aren't always bigger, faster, stronger. They are tougher."
