That seems like a smart move. Even assuming she could come back, why would you give up a full year when you’d have to play against maybe the best summit league team ever to get to the NCAA tournament?

Similar to Hagedorn last year. Could've come back after conference play started but would've had to get through Daum/Jenkins.

Macy going 2-2 from the arc at the end of the game was just the perfect bow on that game.

Bottom Line: That defensive effort today was just insane. One could say the Jacks shot poorly, but they really had very few shots that weren't hurried or contested. The 'Yotes were incredibly well prepared for everything they did and I would imagine the extra day of prep was nice to have. Jacks do have a good team and it will be interesting to see how they respond in Brookings. They probably won't go quietly.

I was talking with one of my friends at the game and one of the first things they noticed was that State was panicking early in the first quarter and it really showed throughout the rest of the game.

When this Lady Yotes team plays really good D they are very very tough and that's how they played in Vegas against Ohio State and Northern Ill!! Obviously they are very good on O too partly because they share the ball so well, they don't care who scores, the starters and Taylor can all score consistently and they are smart! All those characteristics make for a excellent team!
They'll continue to focus on the next game and keep working to get better!! GO YOTES!!!

Excited to watch the chess match. I think USD is a better team, but obviously SDSU is on fire right now. Should go down to the wire. (But I do hope we avoid OT so we don't have a repeat of last year's DH.) I'd much prefer to see the Yotes rout them, which definitely could happen, but is unlikely. Much will depend on how it is officiated, which is what drives me crazy about basketball. I expect to see the bunnies aggressively pass the ball to their bigs down low and attempt to get our bigs in foul trouble. Of course, we can utilize the same tactics against them as well. Should be a fun game. Read that shortly before the game and thought "Uh oh, I hope that doesn't ruin my reverse psychology..."

Macy going 2-2 from the arc at the end of the game was just the perfect bow on that game. When Macy entered the game, I turned to the guy sitting next to me and said, "If she hits a 3 today, this crowd is gonna erupt!" Holy cow! Crowd went crazy when she hit her first three, the second three was the dagger I was really waiting for! Even her sister was up cheering for her! AJ was pouting on the bench last 4 mins of the game... guessing he wished he had recruited her (heavy sarcasm considering we all know he did recruit her and Macy's mom and Madison didn't want her to play for him).

I had an interesting conversation yesterday with a gentleman with very close ties to the bunny women's bball program. He mentioned that it seemed like the Yote women genuinely look like they have fun playing together for Dawn on and off the court. I replied, "Why? Don't the jack's players have fun together with AJ?" He kind of nodded his head and then quickly changed the subject.

Another observation I had from yesterday's game... Burkhard could not keep up with Hannah and Taylor on fastbreaks. She was often trailing both players by 6-8 steps, calling for help from teammates to cover them. Taylor was able to get a few easy layups this way.

He kind of nodded his head and then quickly changed the subject. I won't go that far to rip A.J.'s team culture. Obviously they have proved over the years that whatever he is doing gets results. Different coaches find success in different ways. Getting your @ss handed to you by your arch-rival isn't very fun for the players, coaches or fans, so looking at their bench in that particular game probably isn't a fair comparison. I wouldn't call A.J. a barrel of fun, but I'd call him an excellent tactition. He is great at putting his players in a position to succeed. He knows how to get his teams to peak at tournament time, and makes adjustments to tournament officiating. I'd also say that he has an astute knowledge that he can get a recruiting advantage from locking up top recruits from the states of Minnesota and SD. I'd call Sunday's game more of a comment on just how far the Yotes have come in regional recruiting, at the expense of the Jacks. Dawn and her staff (and Amy before her) have been winning some (not all) recruiting battles with them for a few years now, and the effect snowballs. Some Jacks fans are already looking toward a Duffy-less 2021, but I still like our chances competing with them for years to come. On a side-note, I think our rivalry with Creighton might just get more heated as time goes on. They are stealing top SD recruits lately, and we are stealing Nebraska recruits.

The conversation I had was an hour before the game started. His comments about our team were based on his observations of social media and talking to parents of Yote players.

Yeah, I don't disagree that there is an obvious difference. If I was a recruit or a parent that was choosing between the two programs, you'd have to score the odds of winning championships and developing as a player as a draw, odds of having a good academic experience a draw, fan support for WBB a draw, ... So all other things being equal, I'd be drawn to the team that is doing it while having more fun. I know that is an overly simplified explanation, but what the heck.

Postgame pressers from both teams:
Jacks:
^^really impressed with Burckhard's maturity in that presser, for a young player.
and Yotes:
Zimmer's take:

Even though yesterday was an absolutely dominating performance, we can't overlook trouble in Brookings or Sioux Falls. If the refs clamp down on any sort of contact we are looking at a completely different game. We played very physically and sdsu had no hope of competing in that type of game. Change how the refs are calling and throw in a hostile crowd and things could look quite different.
