Macy going 2-2 from the arc at the end of the game was just the perfect bow on that game. When Macy entered the game, I turned to the guy sitting next to me and said, "If she hits a 3 today, this crowd is gonna erupt!" Holy cow! Crowd went crazy when she hit her first three, the second three was the dagger I was really waiting for! Even her sister was up cheering for her! AJ was pouting on the bench last 4 mins of the game... guessing he wished he had recruited her (heavy sarcasm considering we all know he did recruit her and Macy's mom and Madison didn't want her to play for him). I believe that Macy is going to a key player for us in the not too distant future. Although she's had limited playing time, this is not the first game where she comes off the bench, stays incredibly composed, and nails those 3's. She's fun to watch and I'm looking forward to see her continue to mature and contribute to this program.

The craziest thing about that game is the fact that we aren't even talking about Ciara's fifth double-double of the season. 21 pts, 11 reb, 4 asst, 2 TO, 1 stl shooting 54% FG, 75% 3PT (3-4), 100% FT (4-4) 2.00 Assist-turnover ratio. No big deal.

On the Rabbit board they are already looking to when the Yotes will lose Duffy. Remember Koupal, Hegge, Seekamp etc. They will be saying that about Krull and others in 4 or 5 years as well. It was also mentioned how it is likely we will lose our coach as well. Considering the rise of the Coyotes and them surpassing the Jacks I sense a little jealousy. They never thought any other program would touch them in the Summit. in there defense it does seem like Duffy has been there about 10 years.

Even though yesterday was an absolutely dominating performance, we can't overlook trouble in Brookings or Sioux Falls. If the refs clamp down on any sort of contact we are looking at a completely different game. We played very physically and sdsu had no hope of competing in that type of game. Change how the refs are calling and throw in a hostile crowd and things could look quite different. Both teams were “laying some lumber” down low. And I thought to myself that a game at the Denny could easily have a different tone inside if a ref decides to blow a quick whistle on Sjerven in a 1st quarter and completely change a game. I don’t love how Hannah tries to reach around to block entry passes. Against SDSU, she would be fine just to play behind and not fall for shot fakes. She has the size and length to be effective and stay out of foul trouble.

Both teams played physical, but nothing over the top like the North Dakota team of last year. I think that Kelly Stewart summed it up best during her commentary in that she felt that the teams were playing physical, but attempting to do so without fouling. We had a good crew reffing the game yesterday. They were consistent in how they called the game.
Where we have seemed to struggle in the past in the Summit League Tourney, is when the bunnies would come out and play aggressively and the refs let it go. The team this year is much better suited to battle and excel in those types of games.

It's always been my understanding that tournament play is usually more physical than regular season.

It's always been my understanding that tournament play is usually more physical than regular season. In theory yes. But anyone else remember a certain official from SD making himself almost bigger than the game in the SLT final when Mooney got called for 2 or 3 charges? Or the year before in the semis when the first and second halves were called completely different? My overarching point was you just have to be smart and pick your spots.
