There are rumblings that SD will play a FB game in Sioux Falls next year. On Bisonville some NDSU fans are speculating their game is going to be the one.
Curious what the collective thoughts are on this. Can see numerous pros and cons.

I believe the Bison game is the opening weekend of Pheasant Season. Also, when will Howard Wood renovation be complete?
Personally, I hate to give up any home dates. I think the negatives of moving a game off campus outweigh the positives.

I also am not a big fan of giving away a home game. There are many of cons of doing this. With that said, playing a game during pheasant opener in SF could be a smart move.
1. We have a large alumni base in SF. 2. I don't know the numbers but our season ticket base is not all that great and of those holders I would venture to guess many are from the SF area. 3. It's not like the students on campus are attending games in mass. 4. Maybe we get more students to show up since they all go to SF for the weekend anyway. 5. Good marketing opportunity to Sioux Falls. 6. Possibly more attendance from Bison fans and hence revenue for USD. 6. MONEY. A Premier sponsor (or a Sanford, with Fargo/SF locations) could provide some form of monetary guarantee....200K plus. 7. This ties into 6 and 7. If enough money was generated to USD then USD, possibly would be able to BUY an extra home game every year without having to always play a FBS or a road FCS. Therefore if money was there to buy an extra home game then the local ticket holders would still get their 5-7 home games at the DakotaDome.
Again, with that said, I would much rather play the Bizon at DD than Sioux Falls but just trying to discuss possible reasons to move the game to SF.

Why give NDSU the benefit of playing in Howard Wood, they already have enough built in advantages that we need the dome to take away. Someone like Illinois State would be better if they have a game in Sioux Falls. Most will disagree but I like watching games outside so I don't disagree with having the occassional game there.

I'm not sold on the idea that it'd be a good move. Sure, there will probably be a big sponsor, but don't be surprised if there's a huge backlash. Football team will NOT be happy; can't imagine Joe Glenn will like the idea of moving his one huge home game with the defending national champions to a neutral site.
Not sure why USD wants Sioux Falls so much......there won't be a huge crowd, because no matter how hard you market the game, people will find other things to do. If the game was in Vermillion, it'd be the only thing to do. It's the Bison; people would show up in Vermillion.
Will students travel to Sioux Falls on a Saturday? No, probably not. And you know the Bison fans travel well....advantage NDSU.

No. This idea sucks. In fact, I'll go so far as to say if they do this I will not be in attendance and I will let the adminstration know the reasons why. I am not traveling to Sioux Falls for a home game.
This idea is lame on so many levels not to mention a big stab in the back to the local Vermillion businesses who have supported Coyote athletics for years and years only to have a home game and the revenue that it brings to town taken away.

I always struggle with attending football games on the opening weekend of pheasant season. I had decided I was going to pass on the pheasant opener this year and head to the Dome to watch the Yotes against the Bison - the atmosphere last season when the Yotes knocked of the defending national champions in the Dome was awesome & if the Yotes were to do it again this year against the Bison I didn't want to miss out. However if the game is moved to Sioux Falls, I will be out walking the corn & milo fields.

I agree with Yote 53.
The priority should be first and foremost to win the game. That will best be accomplished in Vermillion.
To me, the takeaway on this is to not schedule a home game during the pheasant opener. If you do (and I suspect the U. didn't have much control on this) you'd better do something special in the way of marketing etc. to pack 'em into the Dome.
I should mention, however, that if State or anyone else wants to relinquish a home date and play the Coyotes in Sioux Falls, then it's okay by me.

Bison game is also the same weekend as the Augie - USF game. Not that I have any desire to go to that game, but the casual fan in Sioux Falls might.

While I am not in favor of USD moving a game to Sioux Falls because the Sioux Falls fan base even when catered to always seems to come up short in these types of games. Remember when the basketball games were held at the arena and it was usually the Vermillion and Yankton faithful?
Until the Sioux Falls fan base can prove that they will show up in Vermillion, I do not trust them to have their own game in Sioux Falls, since they don't even show up for those.
But, if they do, it is not a bad idea. Arkansas plays a game every year in Little Rock because the fan base shows up and it makes the same money it would on campus. If USD can make the same amount of money, I say go for it.
However, I do not see the Sioux Falls fan base stepping up enough for that.

Bad idea, I would not be interested in attending a "home" game in SF for football.

I do not think there are enough positive reasons to have any FB games in Sioux Falls.
Just keep working on making the Vermillion Game Day experience better. There are so few home football games that moving even one is a big deal. The University leadership always talks about doing what they can to facilitate more people staying in Vermillion over the weekend. Seems like moving a big game like NDSU to Sioux Falls would be the opposite message.
The Sioux Falls USD Alumni have not shown enough interest to warrant it either. If the Administration wants to connect with Sioux Falls Alumni - I think the better opportunity would be a basketball game or two at the Arena or new Events Center. At least that would be one of only many home games moved from Vermillion as well as an opportunity to play in the Summit Tournament venue ahead of time.

The whole football game day experience & attendance have improved tremendously during the last few years. Moving a single game off campus will hurt momentum. The best way to continue this momentum is to keep the games in the Dome & win (we all know our record in the Dome is much better than away from the Dome).
Keeping games on campus is also a great recruiting tool, not only for athletes, but for all students. We shouldn't miss any opportunities to show off the tremendous improvments made to the campus over the last few years. Moving a marquee football game to Sioux Falls feeds on the perception of many that there is nothing to do in Vermillion. I agree on the need to capture more of the Sioux Falls market, but the Yotes need to be carefull not to do so at the expense of the rest of the fan base. I can also see the need to maybe play an early season game off campus to accomodate the construction schedule whenever the dome renovation project starts.
Still kind of wonder if this is nothing more than an internet rumor. I believe I received a recent notice that football season tickets are now on sale and I assume that season ticket holders would want to know the location of all games before buying tickets.
I wouldn't mind the Yotes basketball teams playing in some holiday or pre conference classic in Sioux Falls, but I do believe there are limits on how many games USD or SDSU could play in the Event Center in order for it to continue to be eligilble to host the Summit post season tournament.
