Hopefully they move the SDSU game (USD's home game in 2013) to Sioux Falls.

Hopefully they move the SDSU game (USD's home game in 2013) to Sioux Falls. Why on Gods green earth would they do that. You are coming into our house for that game or there will be a major rebellion.

Personally, I will support the Yotes no matter where they play pure and simple. I have no more beef in traveling to Vermillion than I do going to Fargo or Cedar Falls. Now, do I believe the Dome is an advantage? Of course. However, if there were more folks who don't care about the "where" maybe someday you could walk into Scheels and actually find some USD swag.

We need to all work to make the game in SF a success. The program needs to find a way to connect with the mostly disconnected alumni base. SDSU tried the SF game idea and it was not something they decided to try and make a tradition. There was a little more than 7k in attendance (my guess almost all Jacks fans since they were playing UC Davis). Hopefully the SD administration has a comprehensive plan to get attention for this event and market it correctly. It could be a pretty sweet tradition if people turn out and you get at least 10 k there. With NDSU as the opponent they will most likely bring a good contingent. Can USD draw 7k of their own fans(paying customers) if marketed correctly? I sure hope so.
No way SD would allow the SDSU game to be in SF unless SDSU wants to have their home games there. Jackrabbits will have to come to the Dome in 2013.

I think USD could make this a yearly game and it could turn into a great game annually. What is SF population area....200K? You would think they could get 10-15K people to this type of game if marketed right.

I probably was a little to negative initially on the idea of moving a game to Sioux Falls. Most of the moves Sayler has made so far seem to work out for the better and I am guessing there will be plenty of marketing muscle and corporate (Sanford) sponsorship behind this game.
The USD - SDSU game will never be paid in Sioux Falls unless SDSU wants to move the game there during the years they are the home team. Some of my best memories as a student are the SDSU games ( and even maybe moreso the pre & post game activities) in both Brookville & the Verm.

Hopefully they move the SDSU game (USD's home game in 2013) to Sioux Falls. How about a 3 year agreement where it's one at each school and one in Sioux Falls. The problem with that is that Howard Wood wouldn't be big enough.

NOOOOO. Don't cater to Sioux Falls. You're taking away from the gameday atmosphere in Vermillion; and harming the football team. The Coyotes have a legitimate homefield advantage in the Dome....neutral site games take that away.

The question is really - Are the SD fans up to it or not?

I have had a day to think about this and it is still a stupid idea. I won't be in attendance and I won't be buying season tix since I'm going to assume this game would be part of the package. There are many, many people I have spoken to that feel the same way.
Think about this, how are you going to get SF Coyote fans to come to games in Vermillion, expanding the fan base, when they know USD will just bring the game to them? If they even show up. Didn't we play a basketball game in the arena already and it was basically the Verm/Yankton regulars that showed up. You'd think they learned something from that.
How does this help the students? Take a game off campus and make them travel to it. They won't show up.
How does this help the businesses in Vermillion that have supported Coyote athletics for years. If the AD came to me and wanted money for sponsorship this season I would decline and I would tell them why. Straight up taking money out of the local economy here that depends on game day and the money it brings in.
Edited to also add: You all do realize we only have 5 home games next season. Now you're talking about moving one of those to Sioux Falls. Only 4 games in the Dome next year. Yeah, I definitely won't be getting season tickets for FOUR HOME GAMES.

The same one you do TJ. I was in the Fargo zdome 2 years ago when we had the lead and the roof collapsed on us due in large part to a very loud crowd and fan base. Players can curl up and die in those situations. The Bison can to.

You cry babies need to look in the mirror and see what a lousy spoiled fan looks like! We need to explor ways to increase the fan base and this is worth a try. Give the people in charge credit for trying to do something and you of all people should support the decision even if it hurts a little. See you at the game, we need you!! Good post 59 Coyote, When the shoe is on the other foot it's amazing how the opinion changes. Those that sit in the cozy dome and expect everyone to travel to Vermillion now want to complain because they have to gas up the car, spend some time in Sioux Falls (gosh that sucks compared to Vermillion and maybe get a bite to eat. I travel from Sioux Falls to Vermillion to every game worth going to (basically any D1 scholarship game). Now it's time for the Vermillionites to return the favor. I personally love outdoor football and will enjoy this game. I do enjoy the home field advantage of the dome and wish USD would have picked a different game to move to Sioux Falls but it is what it is so I don't want to hear those complain about the travel, especially to those that have to travel a reasonable distance to Vermillion every time they attend a home game. Lets remember one thing. USD was such a good dome team and a horrible road team. I look at that part of history as the USD Meierkort's not being very good on the road, not the USD Coyotes. I believe under Glenn we will see a better road team and if we have confidence in the Yotes they can beat NDSU just as easily in Sioux Falls as they can in Vermillion, Well almost. ;D Don't be selfish when it comes to promoting USD. SDSU gets way too much of the Sioux Falls share of the market and now it's time for USD to take some of it. They have been in the Summit tourney plus played baseball games in the Sioux Falls baseball stadium. The University of South Dakota is about South Dakota, not about just Vermillion and we have to remember that. Actually, it's more of the fact that the Sioux Falls fan base has never stepped up in the past and has had more than a few chances. You also have been skipping out of games that are an hour away over the past year as well. The Sioux Falls fan base has been catered to before and nothing has happened because of it. They go to the Summit League games, but I think the move from Vermillion to Sioux Falls helps NDSU more than it helps USD since I do not count on the Sioux Falls fan base to show up. Even the events that are held in SF now like the dinner with the Yotes or that Pizza Ranch thing, whenever I ask how it was, I always heard, well, the Vermillion faithful usually show up and there are more people there than the Sioux Falls people. Granted that's what I have heard. Until the Sioux Falls fan base can stop complaining about traveling to Vermilion and do it consistently, then they will earn the game in SF when the Dome is selling out every home game. That's how you the game will be a success in SF. I see more NDSU fans buying tickets right now than Sioux Falls fans. Right now, the only thing the Sioux Falls fan base has right now is Will Powell's dad being a huge supporter. After that, it's very sketchy.

Last time I checked the University of South Dakota is in Vermillion South Dakota, not Sioux Falls South Dakota. I would like to know how many football and basketball games you went to last year? Maybe SDSU did move a baseball game to SF. Who cares! This isn't SDSU and it isn't baseball we are talking about. It is football. Like some have said, we have 5 home games, take 1 away and that leaves 4. Baseball plays many more games than football. Not even a fair comparison.

Completely agree, Iceman. When you're talking only 5 home games, and you move one away from your home field, that's a huge slap in the face to the football program. IMO, this move will be all about money. Some big corporation, likely Sanford, will step up to the plate, shell out thousands of dollars for this game, probably give it some fancy name, and call it good. It'll be up to USD to completely control, from what I heard. But that's enough.
If I remember right, NDSU was going to be the Dakota Days homecoming game. Now what? Western Illinois? Give me a break. Not that "homecoming" should be the end-all, be-all, but it's significant when you think about alumni coming back on campus; parade; student activities, etc. With the NDSU game moving to Sioux Falls, fans in Vermillion (those who won't make the drive) won't see the Coyotes for 5 weeks. And more importantly, from the perspective of a football coach and a player, they won't play on their home field for 5 weeks.
