I see there is a thread for the UND games titled UND Home and Away - Maybe we should retitle this thread NDSU Away and Away

Matter of fact, reconsidering whether I re-up my 4 sets of season tickets and HP membership.

Add this to a healthy list of decisions that I think are bad ones by SD. That being said - I go to cheer on the players and coaches and want to see them succeed. I hope there is a good turnout. I am very concerned that there could be less than 3k from USD in the stands and perhaps almost as many NDSU fans. Really do not have a lot of faith in the SF area USD grads showing up. Many of them never had a good experience or tradition of going to games while they attended school - highly doubt they will have interest in this game either. From the sound of it the SD Athletic Dept is committing to holding one home game a year in SF.
I would much rather see SD work on giving the students and fans the best possible game-day experience in Vermillion and build from there over the years.
Howard Wood will have 10000 available seats to sell. The DakotaDome has in the neighborhood of 5200 in the main grandstand plus however many you can fit in the bleachers on the opposite side. From a revenue standpoint if SD sells 10000 tickets they could clear more profit after the cost of rent. Hopefully there is a major marketing plan and meaningful corporate support to help get butts in the seats. If not, I would predict 5k or less in attendance.

Well I won't be there and I've already talked to 3 other regulars who share the same opinion. Add us and our famies and that is 20 or so less regulars in the seats. I'm sure we are not alone. I'm sure the SF game is part of the season tix package, which I will now not buy. I will also make sure to callinsurance (email) the AD on monday and voice my displeasure.

This is good for NDSU, SF will bring alot more fans, my guess we will have 3K maybe more depending on the records of the teams

Awful idea. The only way it makes since is to do it on a two year or annual basis, like KU vs Mizzou or OU vs TX. Doing it once means we won't see NDSU in the dome until 2014

Doing it once means we won't see NDSU in the dome until 2014 From what I was told - The NDSU game would be a candidate to always play our "home" game in SF. The administration would like to have a game in SF annually. Not sure which team would be a candidate in 2013 and all other away games when SD travels to Fargo. UND possibly? I think from a revenue standpoint it would make sense to pick a team that would travel well (not that I think this idea of playing in SF is a good idea).

How many NDSU fans have come to SDSU for that game the past few years? We've gone anywhere between around 3,000 in 2009 to an estimated 7,000+ in 2007, and I think we had about that much last year.

You cry babies need to look in the mirror and see what a lousy spoiled fan looks like! We need to explor ways to increase the fan base and this is worth a try. Give the people in charge credit for trying to do something and you of all people should support the decision even if it hurts a little. See you at the game, we need you!!

Give the people in charge credit for trying to do something and you of all people should support the decision even if it hurts a little. See you at the game, we need you!! Good post 59 Coyote, When the shoe is on the other foot it's amazing how the opinion changes. Those that sit in the cozy dome and expect everyone to travel to Vermillion now want to complain because they have to gas up the car, spend some time in Sioux Falls (gosh that sucks compared to Vermillion and maybe get a bite to eat. I travel from Sioux Falls to Vermillion to every game worth going to (basically any D1 scholarship game). Now it's time for the Vermillionites to return the favor. I personally love outdoor football and will enjoy this game. I do enjoy the home field advantage of the dome and wish USD would have picked a different game to move to Sioux Falls but it is what it is so I don't want to hear those complain about the travel, especially to those that have to travel a reasonable distance to Vermillion every time they attend a home game. Lets remember one thing. USD was such a good dome team and a horrible road team. I look at that part of history as the USD Meierkort's not being very good on the road, not the USD Coyotes. I believe under Glenn we will see a better road team and if we have confidence in the Yotes they can beat NDSU just as easily in Sioux Falls as they can in Vermillion, Well almost. ;D Don't be selfish when it comes to promoting USD. SDSU gets way too much of the Sioux Falls share of the market and now it's time for USD to take some of it. They have been in the Summit tourney plus played baseball games in the Sioux Falls baseball stadium. The University of South Dakota is about South Dakota, not about just Vermillion and we have to remember that.

Hopefully they move the SDSU game (USD's home game in 2013) to Sioux Falls.
