Kody Case enters the transfer portal This is a confusing one for me. If you want to hang it up, that's one thing. But where did he think he'll end up in the portal? I doubt teams are lining up to offer a guy that hasn't been on the field in like 4 years. Unless he's looking to drop down a division or 2. I am in the same boat. Maybe the injuries have moved him down the depth chart? Wondering if he is looking to drop down a level or something. The best ability is availability. Case was brilliant his first couple of seasons but then unfortunately he couldn't stay on the field after that. I thank him for all he's done for Coyote football and wish him well.

There is a huge youth movement in our program right now. Looking at the roster, we have a overwhelming amount of sophomores in the program. This is going to lead to older players who aren't seeing time leaving the program. Kase and McQuity were both starters, so I'm a little surprised to hear that they are considering being done, but I would expect a lot of departures in the next few seasons with a backlog of same age players all fighting for playing time.

I know there has been a lot to cover regarding the men's and women's basketball programs lately, but man is it quiet around the football program right now. The argus seems like it has almost daily updates from Zimmer on the rabbits spring season. For USD football it crickets.
Has anyone seen/heard any updates on spring roster, depth charts, Camps development, how newcomers are adjusting to Coyote football, etc.?
I know a lot of what gets out during the spring is mostly coach speak and smoke and mirrors, but give us something. A tiny morsel of Coyote football to help us out of hibernation.

Interesting list: My guess is we will hire a female. USD currently only has one female head coach in the athletic dept but I am surely for the best coach whoever that may be. My wild card is Ruth Sinn of the University of St Thomas. I think she did a great job this year and appears to be high energy. She is also very connected in Minnesota and coached several years of AAU for North Tartan. This may help with recruiting and transfers in the future. If I were to make a guess it will probably be no one from the list. Who had Dawn Plitzuweit on their radar for USD six years ago. The future is exciting. Go Yotes! I think Sinn makes a lot of sense. You laid it out pretty well for her. Strong recruiting ties to the region, strong AAU connection, successful D1 head coaching experience, high energy, knows the Summit League...checks a lot of boxes.

Anyone have access to the Argus article on the top ten candidates for the womens job. If you could copy and paste that would be awesome. Have no desire to subscribe to the Argus. Thank you!! Here is their list, for what it's worth: Jason Jeschke, USD assistant Kayla Karius, Drake assistant Travis Traphagen, USF head coach Molly Miller, Grand Canyon head coach Carrie Eighmey, Nebraska-Kearney head coach Emilee Thiesse, MSU-Mankato head coach Mandy Pearson, Minnesota Duluth head coach Carrie Moore, Michigan assistant Tom Goehle, Nebraska assistant Kim Stephens, Glenville State head coach Of this group, I think Goehle and Karius would be good fits, as they've each been assistants at USD. Neither have head coaching experience, however.

With the rumor of Dawn leaving for WV, this adds to the possibility of AJ leaving as well. Does the transfer from Augie go against AJ for eligibility? Meaning, does he still get his 1 time penalty free transfer?

Was hoping the lack of P5 openings would keep her here at least one more year, but congrats to her and her family. Should have plenty of interest in the vacancy she leaves behind.
As yote05 mentioned, this move could have repercussions on both basketball programs if it leads AJ to move elsewhere.

Remember that just because a guy enters the portal, it doesn't mean that he can't come back. X and Boogie probably made the decision to enter the portal prior to Coach Peterson being hired. Maybe after meeting him and having a chance to talk about the future they will change their minds and return. If not, best of luck to them.

Just from the short intro video he already seems more approachable and engaging than Lee ever was. I'm excited for the future of Coyote hoops.
For those wondering if AJ approves of the hire...here is what his mom tweeted. That might tell us something:

My big question is what type of timeline are we looking at here? Are we going to move quickly or wait until after the NCAA tourney?

Just started a new thread for candidate discussion, admins can feel free to delete if we'd rather keep the Lee firing and candidates discussion in the same thread.
