You can say a lot of things about Streveler but man you can't question his toughness. To get up from that hit he took - that's gusty right there and sets the tone for the team. I think we build on this one - a big win and as we get more experience we are only going to get better. Go yotes!

Yote53 - if the coaches thought Simmons was the answer why would they have recruited Streveler in the first place? Simmons with his cannon may have more upside than Streveler but at this point his knowledge and understanding of the offense is limited. I agree Strevelers turnovers are killing us and he needs to get better but let's not forget he has been in the offense live for about 6 weeks and he has now started a total of 4 college games. I think we need to give him a little more time before we talk about moving his position. Depth, competition, they started recruiting him in spring when they were just getting to know Simmons, and he is just a RS Freshman. It is a best practice to try and have a QB on your roster for every class. Eddie - I'm not saying Simmons won't get on the field - far from it - he's going to be good but he needs to learn the offense better before he's our every down qb. Like I said I think he could be better than Streveler but he needs a little more time to season.

Why is anybody taking shots at the Defense? We've played two straight OT games, that means the game was tied at the end of regulation, and the offense has given the other team 21 & 14 points respectively. I won't even begin to mention how a hurry up offense that doesn't move the ball does nothing but hurry up and get off the field leaving the defense hanging out to dry. Watch MNF last night and they touched on this, how the Eagles defense is the same defense but is much improved this season because the offense isn't leaving them on the field for too long. I could make the case that, while Streveler is a tremendous athlete and we need to have him on the field, his turnovers and poor decisions are killing us and that we might be better off with Simmons at QB being a distributor of the football. Put a package together with Streveler as a back/slot receiver and get him the ball 15-20 times a game so he can still make a difference. The way the MVFC goes we might need that package sooner rather than later as, given the amount of hits he takes, he might not be able to finish a few games, or the season.

Had so much fun last week heading to the game this week too. Why not?
Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to get tickets. Can I buy them there day of the game or should I go thru Ticketmaster? And what side of the field we are on. I don't want to be the only USD fan on the UND side.
Thanks for any input.

Coming to the game this weekend - first USD game. How is parking? Can we tailgate? What time should I get there? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

For what it's worth, I have heard that Chris Streveler's grand father also passed away yesterday morning. Tough kid going out and doing what he did with a heavy heart. God Bless

Being new to this sight, how are we feeling about this recruiting class compared to previous years?

A couple things I have heard as well...
Streveler has been coordinating and leading the captains practices for the offensive team. Pretty impressive for a kid who has been on campus for just over 4 weeks. Looks like he is developing into a leader on the team.
Simmons was actually ahead of Seager coming out of spring ball. Simmons is a great athlete as well with a very strong arm. His challenge is knowledge and retention of the offense.
Can't wait for the games to begin!

Pretty sure he is gone - don't know why. What's the issue with Javon?

Here is my take - Strevler is loved by his teammates he has more than earned their respect. I suspect he will be able to do the same thing at USD. I know the new USD staff was looking for someone to set the pace and based on their due diligence they think they found it. Strevler's numbers coming out of HS I think were actually better than Aaron Bailey who has ended up at UNI and he has done pretty well.
Time will tell how it all plays out but it certainly looks like wherever he ends up playing he should be a positive for the team. His experience in a D1 program and overall maturity should be a great addition. It is going to be exciting come fall.

SDSU - what are you basing that observation on? He drove the team to their only score at TCU when he came in for an injured Leidner and threw a TD to Max Williams on 4th and Goal. In the SAn Jose game yes he was 1 for 7 but if you look at the passes, 1 was a dropped TD pass that was in KJ's hands and two other times receivers ran the wrong routes. Put those 3 plays in as completions and he's 4 for 7. I think you and all gopher fans have a way too small body of work to really analyze. You could be right and only time will tell.

I recall hearing the MN OC say that Strevler ran the read option in the San Jose game as well as any QB he had coached. That included chandler harnish from NIU and all the previous MN qbs. That's was in his very first start ever.
I've followed this guy for a while. He was under recruited coming out of HS but had a record of 30 -2 as a starting QB in one of the toughest conferences in the state of IL. Had a lot of interest from bigger schools but once MN offered, he accepted and he told all the other schools to go away. He was loyal with his commitment to MN. His HS coach called him the best leader he ever coached - and that includes several D1 athletes included Green Bay RT Brian Bulaga. You all are getting one heck of a football player and possibly even a better character guy. Just watch and see. Players, coaches fans media are going to love him. He plays hard, he knows how to win and he's just going to be fun to watch. Can't wait to see how this team progresses under his leadership.
