I understand and agree but would add a corner's job is much easier if the opposing QB has limited time to throw. True, hoping more of an FBS vs FCS scenario and if not it's going to be a long season. Weber State will be a better gauge...

I recorded the game, just heard broadcaster talk about the position changes, he said some are easy, but WR to Corner is tough. So true...not even safety to corner is a sure bet.

The corners played 10-15 yards off their receivers and they completed short passes at will, but also burned them deep. The DBs is my biggest concern. Have to believe with so many kids converted to corner there is difficulty recruiting this position... Lot of competition for top talent, this is one of the hardest positions to recruit...true corners are hard to find. It's not only about speed... Have to be able to drop hips with WRs decelerate and accelerate, be an elite open field tackler, and understand how to cover different WRs based on ability/physical size, fit scheme... Lots of attributes to look for: good feet, ability to decelerate, cover double moves, squeeze, step on routes, & obvious speed, tackle, etc... Will take some time, coaches noted limitations and will make adjustments, they'll get better sooner than later...

Pretty cool #1 vs #6 agreed to play the opener...great game!! NDSU will indeed get better. Easton Stick was very good. Have to believe he will be one of top QBs in FCS by midseason. Front 7 top notch, DBs were ok... I was impressed by the LB play on both sides. One thing that did stick out was the depth NDSU has; when the MIKE went down he was replaced with another kid that was almost as good as the 1... If they meet again in the playoffs I think NDSU wins by at least 2 TDs...

Coach Nielson was clearly implying that two QBs will get significant time as we will be blowing everyone out by halftime. Seriously though does a two QB system ever work better than just having one of the two guys be the main guy? Nope; my bet when conference play comes around the best QB earns the spot.

Good to hear coaches are worried about USD Football; well if indeed spying was in play. UNM is the only team that really needs the film being they are playing a wildcard in USD. I'm sure they are reviewing WIU film and last years film to scout players from the 2015 team. By the time SDSU weekend comes around there will be more than enough film... Jay said in the tweet that it was NOT SDSU Season starts with 3 nonconference opponents... That will provide enough film for conference teams. I just don't see anyone's season dependent specifically on beating USD... The D is a basic 4-3 mostly zone, nothing crazy. The O is in question, but after a couple of games teams will have an idea on how to attack it... An advantage would be to know when specific plays are going to be run... Spying this early doesn't buy anyone much...

I looked through the 2016 recruits and some of them had FBS offers as well; impressive recruiting! 9 commits prior to the 2017 season, at this pace will have 20 mid season...

Calvin Strong lost one year of eligibility last year as he was academically ineligible, leaving him with 4 years to play 3 seasons. He can redshirt this year and still have three more years of eligibility (assuming he is no longer academically ineligible). Right we went over this... Brain giving out, just stated general rule for player eligibility. *It was mentioned he would be eligible at the start of school. I assumed the issue was PTD(Progress towards Degree) which would require 24 credit hours to be eligible this season. Note: First season following USD so lack background knowledge of personnel... This kids potential must be off the charts with so much interest.

So if Calvin Strong sits out this year will he still have 3 years of eligibility? Rule is 5yrs to play 4 seasons; eligibility starts after initial enrollment. -folks are saying he is eligible to play this year -if not, I'm sure the JUCO folks will start hovering...

Smart energetic staff that knows how to win! New offense, opportunistic D, and players buying in...can't help, but to be excited!
