"Thus, programs like North Dakota State rely more heavily on walk-ons and player development early in their careers. The Bison, in particular, try to use their lack of a depth to their advantage, doubling routine reps in practice so younger players quickly evolve into seasoned veterans." -high reps for incoming players, great angle to recruit.

Awesome read... I live about 25minutes from Frisco,TX. I attend several bowls in the area, but I have never attended the FCS title game. I will make it a tradition going forward...

If your son ever needs to get to the airport unexpectedly, I'm sure he'll be able to find somebody willing to give him a ride. Many are just looking for a reason to go to SF. Appears you are correct, my son related best to fly out of SF, because he can get a ride there anytime...

So far so good, actually coming home today and had no issues getting to Omaha and has a ride back. Being an 18year old, kinda green, I worry a tad. So far has explored SF and Suiox City with friends and had no problem doing that :-). I just want to make sure he has a plan B.

I see that bus over by McDonald's basically every day and it always says Sioux Falls or Kansas City on its display board. I don't think it would be hard to get a ticket to Sioux Falls or Omaha on a given day. Thanks, appreciate the feedback! Parent- covering my bases, in case I ever need to get my son to an airport unexpectedly.

Honestly, I've never heard 1 single person until now complain about not having some sort of bus service to Sioux Falls and I've been around USD and Vermillion for many, many years. To/From Airports... Likely because the informed knew about webstore.trailways.com which has a bus route from Vermillion to the Omaha Airport.

You could get a bus ticket I'm sure. I know there is a bus travel line that has a stop just a couple blocks from campus. Probably not enough demand for a student dedicated shuttle between cities though as most kids have their own cars. Something to look into in case an emergency... With the campus and town being so small it's almost a waste to get a car. However might be wise just to avoid potential issues...

Am I missing something?
Is there no shuttle from Vermillion to Sioux Falls and/or to Omaha? This would be really helpful for students or athletes that need to fly...

And some of the elite can take a kid from a P-5. This statement surprises me a bit... Power 5 offer protected/guaranteed 4 year deals; huge advantage... In the past players had to worry about getting cut, but not anymore in the Power 5 at least. In addition, there are numerous "just in case, we don't get our guy" athletes in position 6-7-8-9...etc that appear to have garnered interest, but not really...

Do we know right now what his status is going to be to start the season? I haven't heard anything, or maybe I missed something. So, when, exactly do we find out for sure? Day 1 of fall camp, or sometime prior to that? Aug 3rd roster players report Aug 23rd all players report *could be either really. If on scholarship and eligible will report Aug 3rd. If not for whatever reason, but eligible will report Aug 23rd.

Few more missing from the last season's roster to the current roster: 35. Hunter Young, So. DB - Transferred to DWU 35. Luke Worden, Jr. WR 46. Ryan Schuster, So. FB 48. Brandon Storebo, So. TE 57. Dylan Arntz, So. LB 72. Brock Brandt, So. OL 82/11. Eric Saintil, So. WR 87. Nickel Meyers, So. WR - Transferred to Augie 93. Samy JeanClaude, So. DL 95. Viktor Kaiser, So. DL 97. Reed Solberg, So. DL Via that list it appears the sophomore year is the most common transfer/drop year (end of RS Frosh year). I have to assume at that point the kids know if they can play at the FCS level and the coaches have a good idea as well.

Wow interesting... Figured since he had no stats, assumed he was redshirted and then became ineligible. So I thought he would have 4 remaining to play and just lost redshirt year. -with that said if a player becomes ineligible 1st year regardless if redshirted, he loses an active roster year? -or does a team have to declare him as redshirt and that is why he lost an active roster year? You can't technically redshirt an ineligible player. Redshirt players still practice and participate in official team activities, ineligible players can't even do that. I'm guessing that being ruled ineligible due to academics automatically comes with forfeiture of that year of eligibility. Not exactly an expert on those rules. Never good to be ineligible, but rough if it's a kid that was a planned redshirt... -sit frosh year, but then go ineligible after the 1st semester ---season counts as if never redshirted ---no spring ball -left with 3 years active and 1 redshirt

Since on subject: "All Division I student-athletes must earn at least six credit hours each term to be eligible for the following term and must meet minimum grade-point average requirements that are related to an institution’s own GPA standards for graduation." www.ncaa.org/remaining-eligible-academics

[ Isn't he a 2015? He would have eligibility until 2020. If so, then no redshirt down to the last 4 years of eligibility. He is a class of 2015 player who was academically ineligible to participate last year, losing a year of eligibility in the process. Now he has four years remaining to play three, assuming his grades are good enough for him to be eligible this fall.
