This years game was a payout game. Next year is the first year of a home and home. They have a history of playing the first game of home and home in Missoula and buying out the return trip. That will be tough to do if they come here first.

There is a recruiting dead period from Dec 17-Jan 03, so I'm sure the coaching staff will take this weekend and use it to our advantage for recruiting.

I have also wondered why Charlie Goro never got a shot at quarterback. He is legit. Go look at his film on Rivals. He was Illnois player of the year for a reason.

Matt Miller 6"5 235 TE from Omaha Skutt catholic also commited per Wisemans dad on ESPN. Miller is a 2 star on rivals. Wiseman is rated a 3 star by ESPN.
ESPN article
Chris Wiseman (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Lee’s Summit West) committed to South Dakota in November but decided to reopen his recruiting process when coach Ed Meierkort’s contract was not renewed. Wiseman, a three-star defensive end, still had South Dakota high on his list, but he wanted to meet the new coaching staff before making any decisions. After meeting new coach Joe Glenn on a visit this weekend to Vermillion, S.D., the 6-foot-4, 230-pound senior recommitted to the Coyotes. “He really liked the new coaching staff, coach Glenn, the new defensive coordinator [Jason Petrino] and the defensive line coach [Marquice Williams],” said Dave Wiseman, Chris’ father. “His buddy out of Omaha, [tight end] Matt Miller, also committed, so that was a factor, too. But we really liked coach Glenn.” Wiseman helped Lee’s Summit West win a Missouri Class 5 championship in 2010 and advance to the state semifinals this year. He received FBS interest from Kansas State, Arkansas, Missouri and Iowa State, among other schools, and he was offered by FCS programs North Dakota and Central Arkansas. Wiseman is ranked No. 16 among all players in Missouri.

Somethings that will help keep the game closer than expected. 1. Wisconsin hopefully looking ahead to Nebraska. The fans sure have, if you look at their message board. 2. The fans looking ahead to nebraska and not getting into the game. 3. Coach Sprague was a Captain and GA for 3 years so hopefully they won't run it up if they have a chance. 4. USD playing with confidence and nothing to lose. If Wisconsin comes ready to play and brings their "A" game it will get ugly. If they sputter a little and USD gets some breaks we can keep it closer than expected. To win would be a minor miracle but stranger things have happened.

I think they refer to that at NDSU as "the pitch".

Sounds like we may have our QB of the future. Charlie Goro has transfered from Vanderbilt. Charlie was Illinois player of the year in 2009. The Argus said he was going to play safety this year. I was very impressed with his high school tape from rivals.com. Here is his bio for the Vandy website.
2010 Goro did not play as a redshirt freshman, as a backup behind starter Larry Smith and Jared Funk... A quality athlete, Goro has to continue improving his arm strength and accuracy.
2009 Did not play as first-year quarterback, though made road trips with Commodores... Coaches allowed Goro to earn offensive playbook as a redshirt, giving him practice repetitions with second-team offense for much of the season.
High School Two-time captain... Team MVP as senior... Named Parade Magazine and EA Sports All-American QB after leading Maine South Hawks to 8A state championship and first 14-0 record in school history... Completed 74 percent of passes (227 of 321) for 3,210 yards and 38 TDs as senior QB in spread offense... One of 50 players across America named as Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year... Set state title record rushing for 164 yards... Named Chicago Sun-Times' Player of the Year... Consensus First Team All-State QB recipient... As a junior, passed for 2,720 yards and 26 TDs... Played WR as sophomore, catching 24 passes for 580 yards and 10 TDs... Ran anchor leg on winning 4x200-meter relay at Illinois 8A state meet as a junior... PR in 100 meters of 10.9.
Personal Charles Franklin Goro... Son of Chuck and Kathy Goro... Born Oct. 1, 1990 in Chicago... Has four sisters: Taira, Grace, Gwen and Julie... Dad is real estate broker; mom is retired from Northwest Airlines... On Pop Warner team that won 2002 national title... Dad was standout defensive back at Southern Illinois... Enjoys fishing, snow skiing and wakeboarding... Working toward a degree in Human and Organizational Development.

My sources tell me that Jake Thomas is looking to transfer to a bigger DI closer to home (Wisc or Marq).
