If this game was at home it would be exactly like the North Dakota game last year and we would crush an overrated team. With it being on the road I'd still say we win by more than a touchdown. Only problem with that theory is that is what many of us expected last week and it didn’t materialize. I partially agree with your post. We had them on the ropes with a 20 point lead and didn’t close them out. However, the UNC QB was VERY impressive and the best I’ve seen at this level not named Streveler or Simmons. I can see why he’s the top NFL QB prospect in the FCS. Based on reading the Weber boards, their offensive strength is running with a questionable passing attack. Also, it seems their defense is similar to UNC, strong up front with questions in the secondary. If we slow or stop their rushing attack, we should win.

This game was the good, the bad and the ugly.
The good: Simmons had a phenomenal game running and throwing the football. The DL had 4-5 sacks
The bad: our secondary, specifically our CB play. Credit to the UNC QB who despite getting lit up all day had a great game
The ugly: the unsportsmanlike penalties were horrific.
Bottom line - a win.
QB for UNC was much better than both KSU QBs’. The might surprise a few teams this year.

Several FCS Twitter and blog sites are calling this a “trap game” for USD or their upset pick of the week. Go ahead, keep underestimating the yotes and face the consequences.

UNC has a good QB and RB. They should be a good test. Will we still be looking in the rear view mirror or be ready for this game? It should be a good test. The Coyotes might struggle early but I hope will wear down the Bears in the second half. I'm expecting a win!!! Will take the long trip eastward to see the game. Getting my vocal chords ready. My take on this game is our boys are pi$$ed about last weeks results and will be taking it out on the field against UNC. I would play close attention to the defense flying around from the first snap to put a bunch of pressure on their offense. I would also look for a run heavy game plan too. Looking forward to a great performance from our yotes.

I just ran across the 2018 Sagarin rankings for first week: sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.htmNDSU 36 Predictor 77.79 SDSU 66 Predictor 70.28 UNI 78 Predictor 63.89 YSU 91 Predictor 63.89 ISU red 99 Predictor 61.39 USD 112 Predictor 58.35 WIU 125 Predictor 56.70 SIU 141 Predictor 52.74 UND 156 Predictor 49.64 Missouri State 172 Predictor 46.22 ISU blue 196 Predictor 41.01
KSU 23 Predictor 83.45
Yotes are a 25.1 underdog to KSU
Alabama 1 Predictor 100.28
Bison are 22.5 pt underdogs to Alabama
I would take yotes if I could get 25 points. I just don’t think we’re that far below KSU.

Simmons wins this game...PERIOD!!! Our team IS BETTER THAN LAST YEARS...and you're going to see that year after year to come...simply, that's just how Neilson does it!!! Simmons wins the game? Not the team? Your in la la land!!! Really? You really think he meant one player wins a game? He’s a dad of one of the football team players. I’m going to go out on a limb here and post that he understands the game of football. Good grief.

On a somewhat related subject, im calling it right now. Our game vs. KSU will be closer than the bunnies vs Iowa State. I’m a big fan on what the new coaching staff has done with this program. This team will push for the top tier of the B12 this year and going forward.

This supports what I’ve read too. KSU strength is their offense line and RB. They will test our front 7 early and often. Our defensive ends will have their work cut out for them, their left tackle is projected Togo top 4 rounds in NFL draft next year. The opportunity, their defense is a big question mark. If we can get after them on offense line we did last year against Bowling Green, force them to throw the ball, we have a chance. Regardless, looking forward to a great environment for college football. Go yotes!!

Who voted the defensive line? Objectively they’re the strongest position group for our defense.

The names have been updated but they don't bother updating the respective weights. Case in point, Riley Peters DL R-Fr, is still listed at his signing weight of 200. A few weeks ago one of the coaches was lauding his weight room achievements and the fact he was now in the "230-235 range." I single him out because he is a Vermillion native and was touted as having great upside if he got bigger. Small matter I know but as I look at LB, DL, and OL rosters, I wonder how many other players who have worked hard to get bigger than currently advertised. I noticed the same thing and it seems as if the names and numbers were done first and weight might be yet to come. All, The team reports today at 11am for fall camp. I’m sure we’ll see updated weight/height by next week at the latest.

Kaiser would've been 4th or 5th on the depth chart as a walk-on at QB. Not surprising to see him transferring Where did you get that information? In Spring ball he was fighting for second string.

Stanley and Kaiser are the only 2 that are new to me iirc. Kaiser was a walk-on and many times this is when they will get a scholly or focus on academics as it gets harder. Lewis had many injuries, not sure on the rest Brevin’s Twitter page shows he’s transferred to Mankato State. Great young man. I wish he well and much success. Brevin Kaiser.

I'm always curious when underclassmen leave the team. Did they find their heart isn't in it? Too big of a change from high school? Not a good match with the staff? USD isn't what they thought it might be? Are they still enrolled in school? I'll never get the answers I'm looking for, but there's a reason why I've stopped trying to keep track of players who I haven't seen on the field or mentioned from practice (and I promise it's not because I'm too busy). Players leave for a variety of reasons. Some transfer to get immediate playing opportunities at other schools. Some quit to focus on studies. Some leave because they just get burned out with the heavy schedule. Some are forced out due to injury. Etc...
