I tweeted that question at John Thayer and he said unless it's brand new there is no rule on that. Michigan hosted the whole way through last year and a few other teams have done it recently I think El Coyote mentioned that he was talking with some USD Admin people, and someone mentioned it. Could have been a misunderstanding. And to be clear, WNIT game attendance isn't the ONLY factor. Obviously bids are very important, possibly more important. The two are related, of course, as the bid loosely represents what you can get in returns on tickets, concessions, area business sales, etc. Didn't the Vermillion Chamber of Commerce help out with the last bid? Yes, Vermillion City Council appropriated $5,000 from the Bed and Booze fund (or something like that, don't know what it is) to win the bid

Didn't someone post that WNIT rules state you have to play at least one road game? Or am I mistaken? I tweeted that question at John Thayer and he said unless it's brand new there is no rule on that. Michigan hosted the whole way through last year and a few other teams have done it recently

From the Utah State board. FWIW also saw Nagy mentioned. Neither Otz or Nagy were mentioned as having interviewed. No serious mentions of Craig "I sat behind one of the players in class yesterday and I am not sure what kind of relevance this has, but he was looking at TJ Otzelberger's twitter page for a good 5 minutes or so and taking pictures of the computer and sending them to somebody. He also briefly looked at Paul Weir's page. I also just realized how weird it is that I was looking at his screen, but I saw that it was about basketball so don't judge." Can those players transfer since their coach left? Maybe he was looking at transferring to those schools? That is what other posters replied and apparently this particular player doesn't see a lot of minutes. Very possible. Just thought it was noteworthy.

Augie's fall 2017 enrollment was 2,080. I can't find a reliable source on Division 1 enrollment numbers, but that would have to be the smallest or near the smallest. Nothing about Augie says Division 1. I don't envision any of their team sports being competitive at the D1 level. Maybe a few wrestlers, track athletes etc. here and there. Is Stephanie Herseth just trying to make her mark or something? I can't think of any reason Augie would want to move up. They're in a great spot for them in the NSIC.

I won't feel comfortable until we see a tweet or something from him like we saw last year. Radio silence on his twitter since Thursday...

It appears the Montana coach has pulled himself out of consideration, according to his tweet. Utah won last night so their season goes on. It probably will be a promising sign if they continue to wait to make a decision. I just don't like the idea of Smith having an interview there because I think we all know how well he would interview. If it is Smith I feel there's a possibility he would want the announcement to wait as long as the women are still playing in WNIT. Wouldn't want to overshadow them. who knows though.

President Abbott just made a pledge to pay for every single students ticket for the women’s game tomorrow night. That gesture alone should pack the student section as a way to say thank you to a great President Little confused as Students are able to get in free. Maybe it's like high school when students get in free to all the games until the postseason because the schools need to give the SDHSAA a cut? I know the GOAT bought all the student tickets for the CBI game last week as well.

Does anybody know how hosts are decided? Did we have to outbid Michigan State? Or is there some seeding that helps us out?

CHASING HISTORY - TIED FOR 8th ALL-TIMEIf SDSU can keep the coaches/players together this off-season (I know that is a big 'if'), they would likely be the favorites to get to the NCAA tourney next year. It is exciting, as it is not doubt what people had in mind when they decided to go D1, that they will be in a position to go after a record with the likes of P5 schools (Nebraska). Just 3 games away from 1st place. All-Time Worst Records in NCAA Tourney Eastern Kentucky OVC 0-8 Belmont OVC 0-7 Boise State MWC 0-7 Louisiana-Monroe Sun Belt 0-7 Nebraska Big Ten 0-7 Texas Southern SWAC 0-7 LIU Brooklyn NEC 0-6 Side note - Come on OVC, get it going over there... Well they came so close to the FCS single game turnover record in December that they're itching to get in the record books

Article from the Mean Green beat writer They don't seem too optimistic about their chances of beating us... Anyone else read it that way as well?
Yes, but I wouldn't be either if I were them. I know anything can happen, but I'll be shocked if USD doesn't roll through this tournament.

Hopefully the new aluminum tariff won't affect Coach Stig's Joose costs too much...
