Nice work kiyoat. Would be interesting to compare football attendance with the above institution numbers as well as student enrollment, athletic budgets, university budgets, and university endowments.
I have talked with two former Augie athletes and two other alumni about this who I am close with (and in full disclosure, one is my wife), and none thought a move to D-1 was a good long-term decision. Not a scientific poll by any stretch, which I readily admit. =)

Oral Roberts is the smallest member institution in the Summit and Augie's enrollment is still only half of that. While we're at it, we might as well get Briar Cliff and Morningside back in the fold. Good grief. Augie in the Summit is a bad idea for everyone, including Augie.

My wife and I are in Chicago and lucked out and ended up sitting next to a huge Loyola fan and his wife at a great restaurant tonight. I caught Mr. Loyola sneaking a peak on his cell phone a few times and he caught me doing the same for the USD game. Finally our wives started talking and he and I just watched the last 2 minutes of the Loyola game. We caught an uber back to the hotel in time to watch the final 2 minutes of regulation and all of the over-time frame on our computer. Freaking awesome! You could tell Chloe felt horrible about the bad pass that turned into a layup and wanted to make it right. Boy did she ever with that 3. She is clutch. We then watched the 4th quarter of the TCU and New Mexico game and there is no way we hosted if New Mexico won as they had a great crowd. Looking forward to Sunday! Go Yotes!

Congrats to State fans on a great season. They looked very good in their game against the Buckeyes today and represented the Summit well. Did anyone else hear Chris Weber's broadcast partner say State last played Ohio State in the 2013 or 2014 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 and lost on a last second buzzer beater? I was under the impression this would have been State's first tourney win. Also, if State had won today does anyone know what kind of money the Summit would have earned and how that would have been distributed to member schools?I did hear that, and he kind of trailed off afterwards because he realized that couldn't be right. Ohio State has two OT games in the tourney in the past ten years - a win against VCU in 2015 and loss to Siena in 2009. I have no idea what they were trying to refer to there. Each game is worth about $1.7 million for the conference, regardless of the round (First Four and Final Four carry the same payout). Another game would have meant an additional $1.7 million. Thanks Yotes!

I have prosecuted several thousand DUI cases and have now defended close to 50-60. What is mind-boggling to me is that apparently no one from any local news outlet bothered to call the Brookings County Clerk of Courts to find out when the plea date was set in this case. As was properly stated earlier, blood results take time to be processed in Pierre and no defendant enters a guilty plea until the results are in. So while the timing is interesting when looking at national signing day I would like to give Stig the benefit of the doubt there. I have not followed this issue as closely as others because I think Stig is a good guy who made a mistake, like most people who get arrested for DUI.
Where I shake my head is over the fact that Stig is a public figure who is one of the highest paid state employees in South Dakota. Further, as the leader of high profile student athletes who are role models subject to training rules you are held to a much higher standard than Joe or Joose-sixpack. For that reason we should be able to count on our local media to at least report the facts. My guess is that Stig used his one-time suspended imposition of sentence in magistrate court (you also get one in circuit court), but in order to request this relief in the first place that process would have taken place in magistrate court in a proceeding open to anyone. Once the court awards this one time act of judicial clemency the records are sealed unless you are a law enforcement agency or Stig violates the underlying terms and conditions of the suspended imp in which case the Brookings County State's Attorney's Office can file an Order to Show Cause and he has to return to explain why he violated the court's conditions and the details of the underlying arrest would likely come back out.
I think all USD fans have a sinking suspicion that if this was Bob, there would have been far more interest, coverage, and insinuation from the local media speculating that USD football was in a bad way after the issues last fall. There appears to be a double standard at play here and while a person's life essentially is their "body of work" (had get some kind of a RPI March Madness reference in there) when they go before a judge, it appears Stig is getting a pass and we as South Dakotans are just left to trust that this was handled appropriately. Our local media fumbled this one badly and frankly so did SDSU and Coach Stig. I know lots of SDSU fans who are just as disappointed with this issue as USD fans. If I were Justin Sell I would have issued some kind of press release, but as we have seen with the NCAA FBI investigations, the hard questions and difficult self-analysis will likely come after the tourney. There is money to be made right now and SDSU can't afford to have any distractions when google hits on athletic and university web pages skyrocket during games and deep tourney runs. I would offer in cases like this we can't afford as a society to let business savvy trump our better judgment and mission of educating students, student athletes and fans in general. And yes, from time to time, our most esteemed of coaches.

I watched this kid's hudl again and am mesmerized not just by his speed, but by how precise his routes are and the level of body control on display. Just great overall mechanics and vision. Also loved to see him delivering great blocks and hits down field when the ball isn't in his hands.
This class has a lot of talented playmakers on both sides of the ball coming in. Definitely impressive and going to be a blast to watch develop in the years to come.

Groove Juice was legit. Chris Miller is the guy I remember specifically, but there were several serious musicians in that group that could bring it. Very popular band during my fall of 97 to spring of 04 tenure in Vermillion.
