Par for the course! I stopped subscribing to the AL 5 yrs ago, stopped reading AL print over 3 years ago and stopped reading AL online over a year ago. Just can't justify supporting the AL with its failed level of coverage. If you compare writers efforts and approach....Either MG is doing a below average job or TV is going 'above and beyond'. I've thrown my consumer resources towards JH and Yankton paper. JH does a chat as well. I suggest everyone attend...I think you'll find it much more substantive!
If consumers don't make the AL pay for its choices then nothing will change.

Are my calculations correct?
SDSU commitments of $18 million vs South Dakota $29 million....interesting!?

So...what's everybody make of the Midco Sports contract?
Don't know anything about Jay Elsen. I see Tom Nieman is assigned to the rabbits.
Looking forward to the coaches shows and more TV exposure!
Now...if I didn't have to drive 50 miles to watch Midco, life would be nearly perfect!

Thanks for the details. Sounds great!
Coyotefan....I could care less about luxury boxes! Didn't know that center scoreboards equated to luxury boxes...shows you how much I know!
But I do know that a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like this should not be left to mediocracy. Our outstanding and historically successful teams deserve the best that South Dakota can offer them! Despite some disadvantages in facility, our teams/coaches have overcome them and proved successful year after year. Time to pony up and return the favor!
My wife and I traveled to Normal, Illinois last season to watch the men's bb team play in a tournament. I loved their arena. It's way too big for our needs but the way it was designed and setup was great! 360 seating on two levels with steep angles for great views. Even from the second level you felt like you were right on the court. It too was built below ground so that main entry was actually around the upper section and you could access any section from a 360 exterior concourse. Even though it was never close to full it was a fantastic atmosphere!
This goes for the track teams as well! It's long overdue for our outstanding track & field teams. It's embarrassing that they have to host in Yankton! I would hope that no expense would be spared to create one of the best outdoor tracks in the region!
Thanks again for the details and dialogue.

No center scoreboard?! That is disappointing! If plans are not with full 360 degree seating and a center scoreboard, I'm not sure how it would outclass any arena in the region. Not what I was hoping for. I don't want to see an oversized gym! I hope this isn't the reality. Any other details?

Which has better short and long term implications....a loss in Sioux Falls or a win in the Dome?
I think, clearly, SD is better off with a win in the Dome! Even a win in SF will not contribute as much to the "game day" experience in the short or long term.
This is a set back anyway you look at it. Unless of course this is the price tag for the new arena!

"SDSU - You can go anywhere from here....(when you start at rock bottom, you can only go up!)" ".....when here is nowhere!" I think it is fortunate that there will be some objective points from which people can measure whether snarky comments like the above are justified. SDSU's record is out there for scrutiny and comparison. Will USD get to the dance in the same number of years? I guess we'll see. And if USD gets there in the same time or even a year or two earlier, USD will certainly have something to brag about. And if USD doesn't get there in the same number of years (and keeping in mind that the conference is now a little softer without Oral Roberts)...well, we'll have something to talk about. Time will tell. My bad for posting in this thread. The context was not meant to be athletics. I was off on a tangent after having read the previous post. When I read it I couldn't help but make fun of the bunnies catch phrase. There is no doubt the bunnies have a great women's program. One that would be difficult for any program to replicate. The men also have a great point guard and was fortunate enough not to have to go through Oral Roberts as well. Count me as a South Dakotan who didn't bother watching State play. Why? I just can't bring myself to do it after reading the bunny board over the years. I've let it make me jaded and cynical. Reading TV's coverage doesn't help matters either. The best I could hope for is to stop reading both and let the healing begin:-) The truth...i haven't read the board in two yrs but i just cant forget and I've recently stopped reading the argus since moving west river and their implementation of online subscriptions. I guess the healing will take a long time! Again, my apologies for confusing the original topic. Off to pack for the Dome where SD is hosting Pac-12 Colorado on Monday night in the 2nd round of the post season WNIT. Go Yotes!!!!

While I feel some sadness for Coach Ed's departure after guiding us through a difficult transition, I also am completely impressed and excited with the leadership shown in this situation. In the past I'm afraid a difficult decision like this one would be kicked down the road. Not Sayler!! Nice....and great for USD!!! Sayler's leadership is getting my money.
Go Yotes!!! Exciting new era to come!!!

Congrats to Chris Ganious on winning a prestigious scholar-athlete award for post-graduate education. www.usdcoyotes.com/sports/football/release.asp?release_id=6684Proud that South Dakota produces not only elite athletes but elite scholar-athletes and great people as well. Here's to your future, Chris. It's a bright won...no doubt! Thanks for all you have given to the community of Vermillion, the University, and the State of South Dakota! You have represented us all very well!

For SD....Verizon, iPhone 4s.
You would have to pry my iPhone from my dead cold hand. My iPod, camera, and phone all in one device....and not just any camera....high resolution pictures and HD video. You won't need your old digital camera, SLR, or video camera ever again. Tons of free apps....I'm trying to think of an iPhone app that I have had to pay for? However, that really depends on what someone wants to use their phone for.
I've had the iPhone for a year now and I hope I never have to change to another phone other than the next iPhone release. I'm really looking forward to using, Siri, the new iPhone voice activated assistant.
Also....I integrate my iPhone at home with my iMac, iPad2, and Apple TV which streams anything from my devices to my HD TV. When integrated with other Apple products, the iPhone is even more powerful!
Qualifier: I have not used the Android!

Recent article that provides some background on our former offensive coordinator: www.twincities.com/sports/ci_19084148I had no context for coach Glenn Caruso's background when he was helping to set all kinds of offensive records with the Coyotes. I knew we were losing someone special but I had no idea to what extent. Let me be the first to nominate him as our next head football coach....If ever the day would come that we should need a new coach of course!
