What are the likely upgrades to the facilities going to be in your guys opinions? Equipment? Meeting rooms? Strength and conditioning space? I haven't been in the innards of the dome in a while but remember the locker room was recently upgraded. The weights are still upstairs I believe. Are they thinking like recruiting spaces with the updated look or what?

Wes played under Glen Caruso. Doesn't he remember what that offense was like when Glen was the coach and he was the quarterback. It's like he hasn't learned a thing about how that offense worked. You'd think he would take alot of characteristics of that offense under Caruso and use it for his own offenses. Wes was a major part of that success when he was a QB that is why it is so puzzling that he just doesn't seemed to grasp how to coach an offense. If he can't run an effective offense how is he going to run a MVFC football program. I don't disagree with you. The Yotes were also D2 at the time. Different people, different time, different schedule. It's not all the X's and O's. Between a D2 and D1aa schedule is huge. Bigger, faster, stronger athletes and a lot of strong coaches with something to prove if the want to move up or take over a program. We need a staff who can recruit the $h!t out of the area. Minneapolis to KC, Denver to Chicago. A Texas link wouldn't be bad either. When you have better athletes than the teams you go against and better coaches coaching them, winning should take care of itself. The scheme doesn't matter.

It's not X's and O's it's the Jimmies and Joes. So Bohl "dominated" 1AA for several years. 3 national championships, impressive. His staff was able to recruit talent to North Dakota of all places. How do you think he'll end up doing at Wyoming? I'm guessing not so great in the long run. What I'm getting at is that just because you have success at one level, doesn't mean that will be so when you get called up to a higher one. You see the very rare cases of guys like Mazhlan and Sanchez (UNLV) going from high schools to D1 and people think that it's easy to go up levels and continue success. Not the case. Many crap the bed when they see it's a new monster they are dealing with. What is needed is a staff who can teach/coach athletes and recruit against the 2 No.Daks, Bunnies, and UNI schools. We need to steal talent in the recruiting process. They need to see what makes USD special to most of us and find something there that will make it special to them. We sit here and take time form our days to read, confirm, or reject others ideas because we are passionate about The Coyotes. The average person wouldn't do that. Coach/teach a scheme that the team believes in and can execute. And get the best possible athletes here to run the plan. I'm short a few grand this month so if we want to go SMU on the bit can somebody pick up the tab for me this month? ?

I prefer dominance at head coach vs experience as an assistance at a high level school. Don't totally disagree. I'm guessing that is what Wyoming thought too last year. I hope I'm proven wrong, but just because you dominate one place doesn't always transpire to others. Hawkins from Boise to Colorado comes to mind. What would a outside the box hire look like? GA Tech/Navy scheme, fast paced like Oregon? Stanford 2 or 3 TE sets and piss pound you? Then you have to recruit for that. What would a kid or juco transfer from someplace warm draw them to Ball Shrinking Cold Vermillion?if coaches are in place who can motivate and are experts in their craft, the kids will see that. If they see a commitment to success that could bring them too. That has to be the culture change. We will play smart, aggressive, play tough nosed D where you will have to scratch for every inch you get, and put together a series of first downs to keep the chains moving and the def on their toes. Lastly have sound special teams. Win games by field position. There is no easy answer. We can dream big fellas, but my gut tells me (it's a big gut) the hire isn't going to blow anyone away.

I was talking about the next hire with some guys I coach with here in MN, and we agreed that to get Caruso away from St Thomas, I'd take at least $200k to pull him away. Great athletes want to go there, he's given pretty much whatever he wants, and he's winning...a lot. I don't know him well enough from my encounters on what type of guy he is, but he can get kids to play at a high level. I don't know if he'd be a better recruiter for the U. It's easy to find the kids he needs to play ball at his D3 level. I once had a convo with Glo about moving to D1, he said it's easy to find a 6'2 230 lb kid and you can make him into anything. Much harder to find the 6'4 245 kid. I don't see why coaches come looking in at the cities some more. There are some tweeters that could be difference makers. Got the kid from Park, but he wasn't even the best in our conf. Few kids in North St Paul, they can play. Thumbleson's (80s RB Thad is his dad) that kids a beast at fullback. I kind of went all over here, but I wouldn't be opposed to a option type offense. A kick ass def that gust makes plays, and solid special teams. If the O can hold the ball and shorten a game, and the d is simple and aggressive, bend don't break, we will have a winner here gentlemen. Yes we will.

Kid from Park is a big back. Coached against them this past season. Solid performer who was one of the top backs in our conference.

Has anyone seen the dates for spring ball this year? I'd like to come down and see a practice or 2, but cannot find dates posted anywhere.

As a guy who coaches in the Twin Cities, I'm very surprised/ upset that USD doesn't recruit more up here. I see kids going to the Bunnies, Sioux, and NDSU from here, but nothing from the Yotes. This is a place where they can get some kids who can play ball at a hi level. Anyone have insight on this?

Who is the clown on the mic for the ESPN3 feed? Annoying as all he11. It's bad when you can tell he's rooting for Kansas. Yotes looking ok. I'm liking the power running and inverted veer. Good stuff.

Talked with one of the coaches today for a bit at the Glazier Football clinic. He is VERY excited about this class of recruits. Said the coaches recognize that they have some work to do to be competitive in the Missouri Valley, but are driven to make that happen. Nobody was happy with how the season turned out, they want to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Do the Yotes look at Max Shortell? He's leaving the gophers.

Denny Creehan didn't run the triple option. He based out of the Wing-T. There might have been some option in there, but there was more stuff as well. The Bison ran split back veer very well in the 90s. And someone mentioned Georgia Southern too. great SBV team. If you want to see an offense that spreads teams out and has them make decisions in the option game, go up and watch Wofford play NDSU this weekend. They hardly every have to throw it and they are good at what they do. They compete every year. You could still get some RBs and athletes on the field, but the line up front has to get the job done.

Why was the PAC 16 looking not at Boise over Colorado? The whole Big east conf is a mess and is almost defunct as far as football goes. Notre Dame needs to join a conference and the big 12 needs to get better. It's a mess, kind of like this random posting.
