If I recall, the volleyball team was predicted to finish 9th this season and they are proving to be a more solid team than that. These polls mean nothing when the teams hit the floor and I think we will hold our own against much of the league. I predict a 5th-7th place finish because we have so many transfers and freshmen that we haven't seen in action yet (but am hopeful for much more).

Per Mick at the Argus, Tyler Flack of Lakeville North has committed to the Yotes for next season. Last season stats don't jump at you but watch his Youtube highlights from last season and those will make you wonder how he didn't average 20+.

Personally, I like having them in the conference. Especially for men's basketball. Year in and year out, they field very strong teams and that forces the rest of the conference to keep up. If we truly want the Summit to be a mid major player when tournament time comes, we need to continue to improve. I think ORU helps us do that.

She didn't play at UNO.
From the Press & Dakotan: "Prior to Tuesday night’s non-conference match at Nebraska-Omaha, Kritenbrink — who missed the match after having her appendix removed — had 230 kills and an average of 4.11 kills per set. Both rank in the top three in the Summit League."

Does anyone know if Kritenbrink will be available for the upcoming 3 conference matches?

Oral Roberts is one of the top teams if I am correct, so I see that as a huge win considering the team is still young and it was a freshman that had 70 attacks and over 30 kills. Wow, keep finding those recruits Houk. I believe ORU was projected to finish 6th in the Summit this season. It is still a good win to get the first one in the books and on the road no less!!

See what Vander Maten can do... check out Noah Pearl... I am also interested in seeing Noah run. However, if he hasn't played yet, I hope they aren't going to pull his redshirt just to put him in a game against an NAIA team. It is one thing if he is getting reps so he is ready if someone ahead of him on the depth chart gets hurt, but I think he will be a good one and would like to see his carries count in a full season's worth of games.

What a game! I still have not gotten my voice back yet. It was great to see the poise and execution in the 4th quarter that seemed to lack at times last year in the bigger games. They showed grit and determination every time it looked like EWU was going to make one of their runs we all thought would come. Sure there were a couple calls that we didn't agree with, but I also saw a couple of favorable bounces, too (Dantes ball that bounced right back to him and whatever happened in that scrum on the missed snap).
Great game and proud of the men!!!

As far as the soccer goes, with 21 freshmen, 3 sophomores and 2 juniors comprising the entire roster, it would be hard for anyone to vote a team with that kind of youth higher than last. Doesn't mean they will finish there, but that is alot of unknowns.

I am excited about the freshmen and transfers we have coming in, but I think it will still be a tough year. The Summit overall is a tough league (certainly tougher than the Great West teams) and when you add freshmen and transfers that haven't practiced with the returning players, it can take a while to gel.
Cautiously optimistic and thinking a 5th-7th place Summit finish.

I am curious as to whether there are some transfers that will take place at the end of the school year or if some of the women are not on scholarship. There are 12 players on the current USD roster that would carry over to next year. Combine that with the 5 incoming and we are at 17 players. Now, if a few of them aren't on scholarship, then that would explain how there would still be one available.
