Nevermind. Refs reviewed it and gave ball to Missouri State. Instant TD pass.
We've really done a lot with that 14 point lead that we got to start the game...

Looks like Shomari Lawrence suffered a significant injury. No contact. Just running up the field and fell down clutching his knee. He fumbled too but refs called him down.

Thank goodness we didn't turn around and give up a 99 yard drive. It was really looking that way, and it would have been an even bigger gut punch.

Again, I'm so happy the announcers get "Ki-yote" correctly. Aren't these guys supposed to be "Valley" broadcasters? They don't seem very interested in anyone but "MSU".

Nothing worse than us needing one yard to score.... only working from the shotgun is so limiting. I'm glad we went for it on 4th. I'm not glad we can't get 1 yard in 4 tries. So frustrating.

Mobile QB made a lot of trouble for us on that drive. Just kept finding a way to extend plays until they had marched all the way down the field.

Starling brings a delayed blitz to put his helmet on the ball as their QB brought it back. Another big play! Immediately followed by a TD pass to Kody Case!
Guys, this is feeling real good.

How about Dalton Godfrey being down there to recover the muffed punt? I'm pretty sure he is the most impactful long snapper in the conference. Would have scored too if the rule didn't prevent that.
Yotes up 7-0 early!

Would someone please explain why this game is not on ESPN+ ?? It's loaded with FCS games today. Luckily I can get it on DirecTV #790. Go Yotes! I am always watching. 4ever. It is on the ESPN app via ESPN3. Most ISPs will give you access to that (Midco, Vast, Comcast/Xfinity have worked for me over the years when I had them). I wondered aloud earlier why ESPN3 still exists. I'm guessing some contractual obligation is keeping it alive until ESPN can roll it into their Plus paywall.

Spreads are based entirely on public perception. Vegas tries to best predict public opinion so that half the betting money is on each side, allowing the house to win every time. If Petrino's pedigree isn't taken into account it is because it is assumed by oddsmakers that the bettors don't consider it.
It can be fun to check out the lines but they are just not good indicators of what will happen on the field.

While this is true we've also fared historically bad on road trips to the west coast since we made the move to FCS. So last week gives me some hope that we are starting to get some of these monkeys off our back. Agree here. Typically, we've gone that far and come out flat and just plain underperformed. That's why I made a big deal out of the travel to California as an obstacle. This team is wired differently it appears. It makes me nervous how optimistic I am for this game. I just have this feeling we're going to go down there and beat them pretty soundly, business as usual. I do agree. Really having to put caution on my optimism, but this sure feels different the past two weeks.

This is our 10th year in the conference and we have won a total of 7 road games (have never gotten more than 1 in a season). I'm taking nothing for granted here.

I caught parts of the game on my phone since I was at a birthday party, so I don't have any meaningful observations you wouldn't also find in the box score.
Cal Poly sure seemed like an inferior team. I'm glad we made the final score reflect that. Good teams do that.
Camp going 17/20 seems like a big performance for a "freshman" QB. Confidence seemed to be missing at times in the first couple games and I hope this helps.
Do we have a large stable of very capable freshmen running backs? Mansary, Lawrence, Thomas all put plenty of yards on the board, and we didn't even see Theiss. Amazing how we went from being so questionable at this position for years to suddenly having a crowded and young backfield.
We outgained Cal Poly 615-243. That's incredible. Through 3 games the defense really seems like a big strength.
It sort of feels like the team is turning a corner here. If we can keep moving forward and take care of business at Missouri State I will be ready to get way ahead of myself and start looking at playoff scenarios.

Pretty funny how the board is silent after a win. This place can be weird like that. The chatter comes back Monday. I have a hunch a lot of people only post here while at work. Something I would never condone.

I haven't spent time on that board since I graduated 7 years ago and still know exactly which fan you are referring to without even clicking the link. UNI used to be the only FCS school in the upper midwest. Things went way downhill when 4 more came into their backyard. They used to be able to tell Iowa, Nebraska, both Dakotas, Minnesota, and Wisconsin that they were basically the only school in the area fit for their level of play. I get why their fans are bitter. Even the school that built the "mini UNIdome" is on their level. I've spent some quality time in the Cedar-Loo area and relish seeing the few true UNI fans get angry (most UNI fans absolutely root for them as a backup to Iowa or Iowa State.....or both).
