The buyout for Lamar was pretty steep. USD can't help it if they are willing to pay the price to buy out. I don't see how the AD screwed up with this contract. What, next time make the buyout $200k? Maybe that's what it needs to be. You are exactly correct, make it more difficult. It's not like this has happened just once or twice. It's a trend that USD has this happen to them. I look at that as a USD problem as much as anything. It may be misfortune but a trend does not luck not make. I thought a $100,000 buyout is a pretty good price. A program like Lamar -- just getting its football program started again -- may not sign a contract with a steeper buyout. I think your AD did about all one could do. I disagree on this being "a USD problem' or any 'trend'. These things happen to many schools,...perhaps every school at some time. Lamar is a relatively new program and there'll be some bumps in dealing with those guys (but with all the talent in Texas and Lamar's tradition from when the program existed some; years ago, not bad to have some relationship with them).

Mick said on his live chat today that he's heard the Lamar replacement will be Northwest Oklahoma.
Uggh.
Didn't we paste them last year?

I don't think we have a choice. Sayler talked about UNI offering $200,000 to FCS schools and they were turning it down. The Lamar payoff is probably not going to be enough to get a FCS replacement, and it's probably getting tougher anyway this late in scheduling. I think we're stuck with NAIA or D2, which in the long run is fine. Since we're playing two FBSs we probably could use a W. Not a lot of options available. A home game against NAIA or D2 is still better than no game at all.

Not Sayler's fault but it still sucks.
At the very least I plan on tailgating HARD for that game since the outcome won't be in doubt and I won't have to pay much attention. At least the W will put a nice capper on a fun day of revelry.

The should honestly lower the season ticket value a few bucks for that development. Why should a non D1 game be worth the same amount.

Pretty sure the Wisconsin tickets are still the same for the inferior game they are playing against USD.

I see that we added NW Okie State for the Lamar game. Tough situation but at least we have a home game despite the circumstances.

Agreed, not the greatest game but considering the circumstances it is a home game.

There was a news link, I forgot to post it. I think it was emailed out last week sometime. But yes, probably as expected, little fanfare.

Gosh since the Minnesota win has anything gone right for the football program? Man oh man maybe the football gods are making the Yotes pay the price for walking out of TCF Bank with a win. I don't say that remark in spite or to be intentionally negative but alot of things just haven't gone well since that day.

Well, yes, a lot has gone right. Not long ago we had our choice of which of the two best FCS conferences in the country we wanted to join. I'd say that was a pretty good deal.

I think in late May or early June. I know there is a deadline for HP donation to be in line for priority seating - I think that deadline is May 16ish. Season tickets will likely go on sale shortly after that.
