Hello all,
I've never posted here, but my real name is Michael Gulseth and I am a proud NDSU alumni who lives in Sioux Falls. I have USD alumni friends who were not willing to buy the William Penn/NDSU combo ticket deal, yet they still want to go to the NDSU game. (I did go for the comb ticket assuming it would sell out immediately.) It is pretty clear this game will not sell out to just alumni, boosters, and suckers like me who bought the William Penn tickets. So can anyone explain to me why the ticket office is holding back these tickets and who they expect to sell these tickets to? Again, I have USD alumni friends trying to buy tickets, but can't. Not exactly the way to groom potential donors.....
Can anyone help me out? I am have started pestering USD via Twitter since this is over the top crazy dumb to treat USD alumni poorly, and could use your help in my effort. My Twitter is THEsocalledfan@GulsethMichael Please follow me and retweet when I ask them to release the NDSU tickets.
I look forward to an excellent game at USD. I will be there and will welcome any an all USD tailgators to stop buy. By the way, can anyone link me to the USD tailgating rules? I'll post them on Bisonville so we all follow the rules.
Thank you again, and Go Bison!

I am not worried, it will sell out.
If you come to the Dakota Days game against UNI I am going to bet your USD alumni friends will be able to buy them at the window that day. Just a guess here, but I'm pretty sure. You should tell your USD alumni friends to come back to campus for the 100th Dakota Days.

I am not sure how a game can sell out when no one can buy any tickets. If anyone can explain this strategy on how to sell out a game, please let me know. If you also think it is as silly as I do, noting they are upsetting USD alumni, please follow me on Twitter and retweet my tweets, or tweet the ticket office letting them know this does not make any rational sense. I wouldn't come and post here if it wan't just so darn crazy that it is impossible to explain.

I wouldn't come and post here if it wan't just so darn crazy that it is impossible to explain. Hopefully several hundred USD fans will buy NDSU game tickets when they come back to D-Days. My guess is that NDSU fans will have the two weeks after D-Days to buy single game tickets. Maybe not having single game tickets available for the NDSU game with the exception of the two weeks leading up to the game will cause a few Bison fans not to come that would really like to, but I would imagine it will be minimal. The game is not much of a risk of being a sellout anyway. They never stopped letting people into the Dome last year for the SDSU game. If that game didn't fill every available seat, I doubt NDSU would. The great majority of USD's alumni are more interested in the SDSU game and as great as NDSUs fan base is, I still think SDSU will bring more fans to Vermillion because of proximity and travel convienence. So why doesn't USD just open up the ticket sales now since it probably won't be a sellout anyway? - I think USD wants to do their best to put USD fans in the front rows of the main stands before NDSU fans gobble them up. Too bad the school doesn't cut the student section in half - I would bet there will be empty seats on that side , even at the start of the game, and after half there will only be 25% full - just a guess though.

I can explain when I have a few more minutes. The strategy is perfect, and your USD friends absolutely could get tickets before DDays. All they have to do is join the HOwling Pack.

Isn't that nice: a Bison fan cares so much about some USD alums. Yeah right. USD'S ticket strategy makes good sense and if some Bison don't like it--who cares.

Amen JackJD. And could that "concern" have been more patronizing?
When are these "potential donors" going to give? Joining the Howling Pack is $100/year.

You're right, Cousin Eddie. Patronizing is very descriptive of those "friendly" comments.

So, JD who exactly are going to buy those tickets? Most NDSU folks went for the package deal with William Penn. So please explain your logic. All they are doing is making their own fans upset. NDSU fans simply cannot understand the reasoning, so please enlighten me. I say there is no way it sells out....it would be sold or already.

How don't you get it? Howling Pack members are the ones able to buy tickets until immediately before the game, a strategy to make sure that USD fans get the tickets first. Then, probably following the DDays game, everyone else will be able to purchase them. It's going to sellout, there will be people who show up on gameday looking to buy tickets who get turned away.

Join Howling Pack. Not difficult to see the strategy. I think it is a good one.

Or have a friend who is in HP buy the tickets for you. Either way it keeps tickets in the hands of USD fans.

Obviously we want people to join for the HP for the highest dollar amount they can, but coming up with $100 a year is not exactly stretching it. Heck we have probably had NDSU fans join the HP so they can get tickets. Remember when Nebraska fans did that to Wyoming a few years ago.

I think you have your requested explanation, SoCalled. If you're concerned about your USD friends, tell them to get out there and support their school: good for USD; good for MVFC football.

Also, I'd think there could be a policy in place that allows for some "standing room only" tickets in the event that all reserved seats have been sold. I'm pretty ignorant on this issue (okay, totally ignorant). Maybe that's the case now. I'm a Howling Pack member and in my situation I would never consider buying tickets on gameday since I live so far away.
