Hello guys. Newbie here. Been sitting in G1,6 for a while now. Looks like Coach Glenn is staying. I can't say I fully support that, but it is what it is at this point. The part that bothers me most is listening to Coach Glenn speak after the games and in the media. One week he takes 5 minutes to discuss his kicker not playing while his D gave up big play after big play....the next he says (which he has stated more than once) he has no idea how 2-10 happened. My question would be then, if you don't understand what went wrong, how in the wide world of sports can you be expected to fix it?
The last few posts here are a bit humorous. Seeming comparing us to Arizona. Thats cute. I'm guessing Arizona would have won more than 2 games playing our schedule.
Anyhows. Feel free to blast away at my opinions. Here's to more wins next year. And more still the year after...

So those weren't our stats against Oregon? I sure think they were. We moved the ball on them. Did we score and keep it close? No not really, but were we expected to? We moved the ball some. We scored a little. We had a completely different offense on the field in that game. We hadn't had any injuries yet until Earl broke his hand in that game. Did Oregon take it a little easy on us in the fourth quarter? Sure. But to say we did nothing at all against them isn't correct either. Arizona had what was it? 29 yards at half or something close to that. We moved the ball way better than that.
Yeah some of you can say, "but it was the first game and they were playing USD. How do you get up for this game?" Really? I don't care who you're playing. It's the first game of the season. As a player, you're up for it no matter who you're playing. Anyone who says different is full of crap.

Thank you for the support Iceman. Man, I don't know what I was thinking, what with looking at box-scores and drawing comparisons between one team vs. another. I mean seriously, comparing USD's performance as an FCS school against the Ducks and finding some positive signs in how they stacked up when compared with the Pac-12 south champ Arizona's performance last night against the Ducks was just crazy of me. I guess that post might have been a little too deep for one State fan and a guy who thinks those numbers are "cute." Those types of comparisons form the basis of every football pre-game, half-time, and post-game analysis, not to mention coaches shows, radio shows, etc... You take a common opponent and you compare and contrast how the numbers stacked up, it's how you scheme better, coach better, announce better and so on. I listened to Tyler Merriam do it today in fact for the Jacks and man alive, it's happening on the college football game I'm watching right now. How cute...this Kirk Herbstreit guy is so reaching. =)

No problem yotefan. I can't agree with you more. Stats are compared everywhere you look.

A fan board without comparing stats and speculation, what would be the point? Fan is short for fanatic after all.
Thanks for posting coyoteg16 and supporting the Yotes. I have been a firm supporter of Coach Glenn, but this year has clearly been a disappointment and I have been perplexed at Joe's post game comments. I knew it would take 3-5 years to build, so I agree with the patience that Herbster is showing, it likely will pay off. I'm not smart enough to know if it's lack of coaching up or recruiting or Asst Coaches, but I do know improvements need to be made, probably in all three.

I think the only thing that can really be said about the Oregon stats is we played our best game of the year our first game ... it was pretty much completely down hill from there. Most teams, including Oregon, want to get better as the year goes on. Oregon did. We, however, got worse each game. I have no problem with keeping Glenn, but change is needed in other areas.
The best tweet I read all day "The Playoff Selection Committee just messed with Texas!"

What I cant understand is how States kicker was the all conference pick over Bergner. Syravotka was good do not get me wrong and if anyone deserved it over Berner it was him but what a bunch of BS politics with not selecting Bergner over him when in all reality he did break the D1 record for field goals. And some long ones at the.

A couple more bright spots,
Tyson Graham, Jr S (switched from WR to Safety admirably) Aaron Ramsey TE (could be a special player) Eric Shufford WR Young OL got some experience (McLaren, Banks, Meinert)

I absolutely agree with Aaron Ramsey being a special player. He caught everything near him and was missed sorely after the UNI game. He gives the QB a go to guy.

Bergner absolutely got jobbed on the one "miss". He had an awesome season for sure. Imagine our record had he not been so rock solid. I don't even recall if the two missed PATs were misses or blocks. Regardless.....
Big picture, the stat that matters here is 21 PAT attempts vs. 50. Yikes.

Both missed PATs were blocked, and both of them were returned for two points (one for us, one for WIU I believe)

There was one other "blocked" PAT if I remember correctly
