I want to thank everyone for an excellent time this weekend. I had both my brothers there, and another good friend from Sioux Falls come with and all had a good time.
I want to just give a few observations:
1. I never had one problem with any USD fans. Everyone was very nice, although Cousin Eddie never brought me my beer. 2. Our tailgating area worked out great, but I was very disappointed in the NDSU turnout; many more in Bunnyville last year. 3. Coach Glenn calls it like he sees it. I know it may grate on some, but we certainly appreciate is honestly and candor. These are not exact quotes but a few of my favorites: "My two favorite recruits from last year are freshman at NDSU." When talking about the fake punt, he said something about how he was happy he did not hit the center. (Even an objective fan can see how very illegal that play was.......) When looking at Nick DeLuca, "That is what a linebacker is supposed to look like." And the absolute best from two years ago when responding to when the game got away in Sioux Falls, "When NDSU got off the bus." 4. I know you are in an impossible situation, but that Dome is a major problem. It is not a Division 1 facility. I don't have the answers, but that has to be fixed/imploded if your program is to ever move forward. 5. Why was there no one sitting in the "Coyote Crazies" section? Is that the student section? 6. Nice work opening up the board to being able to be viewed by guests; big improvement and bet the traffic will go up.
Thanks again for such a great week. Time to migrate to the Bunny Board.

Glad you enjoyed the USD experience, I made it in for the game myself, which is unfortunately a once a year opportunity. I was also impressed by the NDSU fans and the ease with which Yotes/Bizon fans intermingled. What you said about Glenn, is why we like him so much here at USD, and is also the reason you are entirely wrong in point 4, where you imply we are in an impossible situation. We are in a tough stretch, but just lacking a catalyst, be it a recruiting win, a big win on the field, or just a couple more Glenn recruiting classes. But once we hit it, my favorite Glenn quote, "Look out!"

Thanks for your observations. I will try to address them: 1. I have enjoyed my interaction with the Bison fans both this year and 2 years ago in Sioux Falls. Like most fan bases that actual face to face contact gives you a much better view of a teams fans than some of the people who post on message boards. 2. I didn't have a chance to walk through your tailgate area, but my son, a USD freshman did and commented that the Bison fans are crazy (he meant as a compliment) 3. Glad we have Coach Glenn. He knows how to build a program the right way, which doesn't happen overnight. Hopefully, he has enough gas left in the tank to get us to a level where we can compete with the Bison. 4. The current lack of wins has resulted in a lack of attendance, which along with the fact that the Dome still serves as home for pretty all indoor sports at USD makes it difficult to do many improvements to the current setup. Kind of what comes first, the chicken or the egg scenario. Our new arena will open up in the fall of 2016, which will allow the Dome to be used solely for football and indoor track competitions. The eventual plans are to add permanent seating on the students side along with redoing the concourse, restrooms, coaches offices etc. Hopefully the football program is at a point in a couple of years where the administration feels comfortable moving forward with the renovations. 5. The Coyote Crazies have been a disappointment. A few wins would not only help adult attendance, but also student attendance. A few of the football players have called out their fellow students for not showing up and/or staying past half-time. The comments probably did more damage than good. This past weekend was also Hobo Days up in Bunnyville and a lot of students went to Brookings for the parties. At least, unlike either the USD or SDSU students who stayed on their own campus, the USD students in Brookings at least had cause to celebrate. Hopefully the Bison fan base appreciates what they have. The winning streak, 3 time national champions, multiple wins over BCS teams has led to fan support second to none. Hopefully someday the Yotes can get to that point.

There is a very long thread on Bisonville discussing the poor student turnouts at NDSU football games. Student attendance is an issue at schools across the country that has been a public topic this year, from USD to Mich St to Alabama to NDSU.

Student attendance is an issue at schools across the country that has been a public topic this year, from USD to Mich St to Alabama to NDSU. What is most strange at NDSU, is that for big games, the students have done a good job of filling their seat, but they are leaving at halftime...... NDSU is starting to sell some of their seats for the first time.

It is a problem everywhere, even for the best in the sport. While it is still embarrassing and something that needs to be changed, I still think USD gets such bad rap for it because the student section is so visible. They are all alone on their side of the field, you just don't really see that anywhere else.

Amen Yotes. Which underscores the importance of getting the west-side grandstand improved and adding in some additional, non-student seating to fill that void. Great point.

Can someone explain why or how the fake punt was illegal? Just guessing he is referencing the 5 lineman downfield? That's what I thought. You can be downfield if the pass doesn't cross the line of scrimmage.

I'm pretty sure the pass was past the line of scrimmage. To be honest I was happy but surprised we didn't get a flag. Maybe the refs were making up for the four missed holding calls on their first couple drives.

On a positive note we did get our first sack of the year... Not that it matters much, but I believe it was our second. 1 is abysmal. 2 is merely awful.

Maybe the refs were making up for the four missed holding calls on their first couple drives. The non-call on Iddings was terrible for sure. But yes, half the line was downfield on the fake punt. Glenn even said so in the post game.
