Western Illinois has one conference win - on the road at YSU by a TD. This team finished 2-6 in the MVFC last year and USD obviously lost head to head against them.
This is as MUST win as they come for the players, staff, and fans. I hope a decent crowd turns up for the game, but I think it will be pretty light. Any idea why this game was moved to 4pm this week? I like the later start times personally, but I know many people prefer early start times.
I have no idea what to expect for an outcome in this one.

The Coyotes need to play hard, smart and MAD for 60 minutes! If they do they'll dominate this team!! The crowd needs to be LOUD!

First of all, I'm betting on a small crowd. Our tailgate group is gonna be down over half. Secondly, we haven't played smart in ages. Last, this team, in my opinion, has given up. They don't feel they can win. I just don't get it. This is absolutely the lowest I've been in ages regarding our football program. I will be there and I will lose my voice, but it just don't feel good about it. I pray I'm wrong.

Hoping for the best, not going to be surprised if it turns out to be the worst.

I guess I don't understand why you think this Coyote team is capable of dominating anyone right now. WIU is coming off a bye and should be rested, and has played well against some good teams. They just seem to run out of gas late. Now I expect a tight game, and USD certainly can win, but I don't think either team is going to dominate the other.

ghostbuster--The Coyotes haven't even come close to playing a full game in recent memory. I believe they can but the team especially and fans too need to believe that! One other thing the Yotes need to do adding to my list above is have fun! We all know what happens in sports when teams try to force things to do better. I believe the Yotes have had some of that in recent games too.

No team has given NDSU a bigger scare this year than Western Illinois. The Leathernecks have been very competitive throughout the season. If anyone should be talking domination, it's the other guys. USD is the worst team in the Missouri Valley. That hasn't always been true, and it doesn't need to be true going forward. But it's definitely true right now. That's not on the boosters. That's not on the student section. That's not on our facilities. It's on the players and coaches. No one wins because of facilities and fan support, but programs can succeed despite the lack of those things.
I don't expect undefeated seasons, but I do expect respectable losses. When we do lose, I hope to see great effort, start to finish, and schemes and technique that position our players to succeed. The time for excuses has passed; it's time for results. If this coaching staff can’t change the conversation soon, they need to be held accountable.

We'll be there as always...win or lose, they're still the Yotes! I've calmed down from last weeks loss and realize that the main reason I got frustrated last week was because that game was "ours" to steal from a very good football team. What we've all learned here and it's been commented on many times prior is that there is no "weak" team in this conference and on any given day, in any given set of circumstances, all of these teams can win, including USD. Whether we beat WIU or not this weekend, I certainly hope that we go out there and play 60 minutes of football and in all aspects of the game. A couple of things that I would like to see happen and not in any particular order:
1.) On offense, something other than hand off to Jasper, hand off to Jasper, incomplete pass, punt the ball. 2.) Special teams getting a lick on somebody each and every opportunity. (I think they did quite well in that department last week, which was nice.) 3.) Offensive line giving Earl a little more time to be more creative. 4.) A BIG play.... a REALLY big play, you know like when someone gets horizontal and makes a grab that shouldn't be caught. Memories of Will Powell going horizontal on every ball that was just out of reach is permanently etched into my brain. 5.) Big defensive plays without the penalties. A couple of really good clean sacks on the quarterback that make him scared to keep the ball for very long. 6.) Finally, how about some decent officiating this weekend. Maybe it's just me but it sure seems like we've had more than our share of horrible calls that have gone against us at home this season.
We'll see you all at the game!

This should be a fun game to watch, as both teams are desperate for a much needed win. Since this will be my first trip to Vermillion anyone have suggestion for a good pre game meal? Good luck USD, and Go Necks!

I have found myself at Cafe Brule on Main Street for breakfast the last few Saturdays, and I would recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of great dining options, Mister Smiths has all-world quality sandwiches at Subway prices, and the bar food at Leo's is often what the doctor orders for me.
The one spot I always advertise to visitors is Carey's Bar (right next door to Cafe Brule actually). Best bar in SD for sure!

Good luck USD, and Go Necks! Leatherneck, I agree for a great breakfast Saturday morning go to Cafe Broule. Good food and well trained servers and a great guy that owns it. As far as the pregame meal, please join us east/northeast of the Dome on the east side of the parking lot for a good pre game tailgate meal. In addition, have a Bloody Mary, cold beer,or soft drink. We have a variety of food and always welcome our guests. Enjoy the game

Not the same Carey's it was in yester-years. Not sure why, just seems to be on the slide. Just grab a stool at Leo's and order up a basket of wings. Plenty of games on the tvs and some great people.

There was about a 15 minute stretch against YSU where we looked like a completely different team. We got that interception and took the ball right down the field to score before the half. I went from wanting to turn the game off to being on the edge of my seat watching this team do what we know it is capable of doing. Bergner hit that 50 yarder and I was thinking that was it, they finally got some momentum and they were going to roll the rest of the game and save the season. But they the explosiveness went away and the play calling slowly faded as well. It was like we could only draw up good plays when we were excited.
