It's great that Coach Smith has been named a finalist for top first year coach at the D1 level!! Certainly did a great job leading Yotes to first winning season in several years and the Coyotes ranked 30th in the nation for road wins at 8-7 just to name a few of his accomplishments!!

He did a great job this first year, I can't wait until we have a team full of his recruits and a new arena. Craig Smith said In his introductory press conference that USD basketball is set to trend upward, rapidly. I fully believe that is the case.

I really like Craig Smith. He is so positive with how he spins things. I believe he is good at player development as well. Bos and Larson both had their best years by far this year. Hunter progressed, Burnett progressed and even a guy like Sekou Harris really came on and that was with limited playing time. He knows how to coach, he knows how to develop and it sure seems like he knows how to recruit as well.
We are so lucky to have coaches like he and Amy Williams around. Both programs have very bright futures.

The Coyotes had the best road record in the Summit League at 5-3 and that goes for men and women so the Coyotes certainly don't rely on home court and certainly don't have a perceived advantage at home with the shooting background. The Coyotes were only 4-4 at home. Imagine if the Yotes actually show up for their home games the kind of season they could have next year. One thing about SDSU is that they don't bring their game on the road with them like they play at home. They have to rely on Frost to get it done and when it's absent they are very mediocre. That is why they won't win a game in the NIT as long as they are on the road. Same with the Rabbit women. They have to rely on their home court as well and are again mediocre on the road. That is why they won't win a tourney game this year either.
I judge the true character of a team by how they play on the road.

After watching the SL Championship game we can all agree that State is #1 in terrible decision-making in crunch-time with the season on the line. Too soon?

The problem with the Jacks is that they simply aren't in many close games. They win every home game by double digits so when things get tough and a game in decided in the final few possessions they may not know how to handle it. NDSU couldn't be more opposite. They are so tested in tough end of game situations that it is no surprise that they found out a way to win another close game in the tourney final. If for whatever reason NDSU can figure out a way to stay in their first tourney game they may be very well equipped to pull one out in the end especially with Lawrence Alexander on their side. I don't think they will find themselves in a position to be in a close game in the first round but ya never know. They aren't the same Bison team as they were a year ago.

Really thought we were a year away from this starting up.

Would that really be a step up? I wouldn't think that would be a big enough job to pull him away, but the money will be significantly higher though. Think Giacoletti made 400k. Assume the new coach would be offered over that.
