I know that I moan a lot about budget and coaches pay and facilities and how that is a disadvantage in our recruiting ability. However, I think this years freshman class is outstanding and it is exciting to think about all of the play makers in that group that are redshirting this year. Thats not even counting the guys who are playing now and making big splashes. This staff has done a great job recruiting the last 2 years, especially when you think that we won 4 games combined while recruiting these guys. I think that there is a lot of talent waiting to burst onto the scene in vermillion in the next couple of seasons. If we can string together a couple more conference wins, with COA next year and hopefully some Dome renovations coming soon, Coyote football could be on the rise for the foreseeable future. We need to keep this momentum and get a big win this week against UNI. All arrows would be pointing up if we can take care of business. What a difference a couple weeks makes! I was as guilty as anyone for being down on the program after WIU, but if we play the way we are capable of these next weeks, the Yotes could kick down the door on the first winning season since 2011. Very well said. You summed it up perfectly. Our young players are good.

One thing that I wanted to make note of from the game that I had not seen before Saturday was the presence of the redshirts on the sideline. It wasn't the fact that they were present on the sideline, they were there on D-Days as well - It was the fact that they were participating on the sideline as teammates. They were VERY into the action on the field; they were cheering VERY loudly; they actually had loud organized chants going on where they jumped around and waived their arms; They were holding up the 3 finger symbol for 3 and out and the 4 finger symbol for the 4th quarter. It became infectious with the rest of the players in uniform on the sideline. The coaches were embracing it and the strength staff, Jevon Bowman and his assistant, seemed to be the instigators on a couple occasions. The chemistry of these guys was glaringly obvious. This is something that I doubt was visible on CoyoteVision or Midco, but was clear as day in the Dome. It was very cool to see. The guys that seemed to be leading the campaign and appeared to be team leaders were: Romontay Hill, Dale Williamson, Eric Saintil, and Samy Jean Claude. There were others - I recognized Nickel Meyers for example, but these were the leaders. I don't know if I noticed any that weren't at least part of the group, if not participating in all of the jumping and chanting. Hill and JeanClaude also pass the eyeball test. Man, they are impressive looking athletes. I caught none of this at the game but when watching the replay of the game on Midco did notice the redshirts and all of this energy at one point. Very pleasing to hear this was going on the entire game. These guys can provide a lot of energy even if they don't get into the game until next year. I suspect it depends on which side of the stadium you were on. We are in Section D along the aisle next to Section E. They hung at or around that side of the 50 almost the entire game. It got loud on several occasions.

I very much enjoyed seeing the redshirts into the game as much as they were. What I caught from the situation was that is started in response to what the MSU team did on their sideline after their kickoff return for the TD. The majority of their team started jumping around and had a chant going prior to their following kick-off. I believe what the redshirts did was in direct response to that.
