One of the games I referenced in my post above predates Cuz's list. It was on 9-6-2008 in Cedar Falls and the Yotes lost 25-13 that day, but the game was a lot closer than the final score would indicate. I remember that crowd being especially loud and the fans jingling their keys on the 3rd down and on kick-offs. Good times. Aside from the flea flicker beat down at their place I mentioned, the Yotes seem to always hang in there with this team. Hopefully they can come away with a W today. Getting excited to watch the game.

With one exception during the transition years the Yotes have always played UNI pretty decently, and that was with some admittedly crappy teams. This year I think we are better than before and I think the Panthers are going to find that out today.
Yotes get the W.

This is a 1PM kickoff today. The game in on ESPN 3. Today is the solidification game. The Yotes win and the NDSU game becomes a little bit more for real.

Please JVG, stop with the Mike-Mike. I'm fine with Munchies but Mike-Mike is a bit much.

Need to wrap up on these tackles in the open field. Have had Bailey several times but keep diving at his feet.

Defense looked pretty good today for having to be on the field for what felt like the entire game. The offensive line showed their inexperience today and that killed any chance USD had of winning. Couldn't run the ball and there was no time for the qb to throw.

The Coyotes defense was ok today but they weren't great. They gave up 24 first downs and 394 yards to an average offense. People tend to over rate the Coyote defense. They are a solid but not spectacular unit that will not shut a team down enough to make up for a putrid offense. The offense was predictably painful once again. When the Yotes can't run the ball they are lost. Wes has been holding this program back for years and nothing ever really changes or gets done about it. UNI as a program can simply be trusted more whereas the Yotes simply cannot be relied upon to win these type of games on any regular basis.

The problem today was that sagers reads were slow. His passing was off target at times. And there were several times he didn't decide soon enough to take off and run

We had a few good runs but way too many for no gain or a loss. I guess that is consistant. We actually had 94 yards rushing with a net of 54 on 36 carries. That's 1.5 yards per carry.

Everyone was bragging up northern Iowas rush defense before the game and they were good. I still don't think we played terrible. As you can see by the other games in the valley today, they were all close again. That shows how close all the teams really are.

The USD defense again played an overall very solid game. I love their toughness and heart. There were still a few breakdowns in the secondary and some missed tackles but holding UNI to two field goals in the second half was impressive. Credit UNI. Their QB played really well, their defense is VERY good, and it was likely the game of a lifetime for their punter!
Unfortunately we again had several nagging/drive stopping penalties, our QB and receivers looked a bit our of sinc (possibly attributable to UNI's D), and I would have liked to see Saeger run the ball more than he did. UNI is a clearly quality opponent. Learn from it, make adjustments, and move on!! USD is still doing MANY good things this season to build upon. GO YOTES!!!
